Police in Samui monitor the position of business signboards

SAMUI: -- Today the Samui Times has had reports that police and army personnel have been asking business owners to move outdoor signage away from the road and pavements in both Bangrak and Bophut.

Many businesses have signs and A boards advertising their services that protrude illegally onto highways and byways, a situation it seems will no longer be tolerated on the island.

The police are also asking to see business permits during the crackdown that was active in both villages this afternoon

A huge digital billboard was recently installed on the southern corner of Chaweng Lake, it alternatley illuminates the corner as if it were a spotlight and then plunges the corner in to almost total darkness.

Not dangerous at all.

The information displayed on the board is all in Thai but from what I can decipher it appears, in part, to advertise some hospital services. Creating their own customer base?
