Dogberry
My Father-in-law has been in the hospital for a week. He has had three dialysis treatments and one transfusion. He is now out of the ICU and I can see him being released right back to his bottle in the next few days. I have friends and family members who are friends of Bill (co-founder of AA) so I know the importance nay necessity of support to break the habit. I have searched here as well as other resources (aathailand.org) but not finding what I need. My limited Thai is also a hindrance. When I was at the hospital yesterday I saw the Doctor shake his finger at him and say "Mi dum". Will this be the extent of his post treatment? Don't drink? ha ha ha. Anyway my wife has been changing his diapers for week, his wife is unable to work the farm as she spends nights with him... and the Thai people are underwriting his alcoholism with free treatment... Anyone know what the post treatment options are available for Thai people? Will he be referred to a post treatment program? Do support structures even exist? Is this left to be between him and Buddha? I just want to see the Old Ba***** well and not set up for failure. By the way he lives in rural Mai Wang, Chiang Mai and is in the Hospital in San Pa Tong. Thanks.
impulse
Go here: http://aathailand.org Click the tab or links that I can't read (because they're in Thai) Or, click here: http://rc-data.net/aathai/Schedules/Schedule_TH_Feb_2013.pdf Sorry I can't personally guaranty it's up to date. You can also Google "temple alcohol treatment" or other permutations to find temples that have treatment programs that won't bankrupt him. Best of luck to you and family!
