webfact
'Lady Parking' to be provided at six airports nationwide By Digital ContentBANGKOK, Aug 5 - The Airports of Thailand (AoT) plans to launch its so-called “Lady Parking” at six airports next week on August 12, Thailand's Mother’s Day. AOT president Makin Petplai said that at Suvarnabhumi Airport, the Lady Parking zone is offered at the whole third floor of the parking building 2. The designated area can accommodate 450 cars. Women security guards will be on duty for the safety of the facilities users. As there are about 100,000 airport service users, only women travelling alone or with children aged under 12 year olds are allowed to use the lady parking area. The soft launch is due on Wednesday, while the official opening of the service next Tuesday, Aug 12. Mae Fah Luang-Chiang Rai Airport and Phuket International Airport have so far completed arrangement of the Lady Parking areas while the work at Hat Yai airport and Chiang Mai airport is underway. Don Mueang Airport, one of Bangkok’s two major airports, is upgrading the third floor of its seven-floor parking building to be lady parking areas to accommodate 200 cars. Johnnie99
Couldn't we start on a more basic level? For example, teaching them how to drive? Then maybe moving on to how to stop using the phone whilst driving, then maybe using the rear view mirrors? Hmm? Just a thought.
Suradit69
Wow. Some threads really bring out the knuckle-draggers. No wonder some of these guys have to come to Thailand to find companionship. . Surely this belongs in the Ladies in Thailand forum since it seems to be a topic that might be of interest to them and also that way they can respond to all the male chauvinist Bozos, the sexual identity bashers and the puerile Thai bashing ... such as on display in these highly clever posts: <script type='text/javascript'>window.mod_pagespeed_start = Number(new Date());</script> Couldn't we start on a more basic level? monkeycountry
Lady parking is fine, but should be on the top floor (maybe it is?), so noone else has to pass through that area. Imagine passing through a small confined area where 200 ladies are trying to park
bkkjames
Interesting this in that just the other day in the news authorities were going to have a chat with Malls to rid their parkades of these VIP spaces in order to facilitate better traffic flow. smileydude
Many women who park in Lady Parking are afraid of the male security guards who have the benefit of: Knowing the layout e.g. blind spots from cameras, exits and escapes etc. Having the legitmate convenience of scoping out potential targets. Often being the only person around when women exit or enter their vehicles. Tempted everyday by watching unaccompanied women walking around pre-occupied with texting or chatting on cellphones entering/exiting their cars without observing their surroundings. Unless they employ female security guards its a possibility waiting to happen. Edited August 6, 2014 by smileydude

Carrerakiss
Guess's the wife is going to park our car from now on, while I saunter inside the airport and wait. I don't know about other airports, but it's nearly impossible to find a parking space at Suvarnabhumi. I doubt this news is going to help the overall situation. bkkjames
The amount of Macho comments here is amazing. Explains why so many farangs choose to live in Thailand. Well explain the reason behind lady parking areas at malls. All I can see is the designated area is usually on a lower level so the ladies don't have to go round and round - can't have that can we. or is it somethiing else - it's too tiring to walk 50 meters, it's too hot, they have too many bags? If we had a men's parking area (even if it was more inconvenient) the whole world would be screaming discrimination but ....
Keesters
Sorry but I find "Lady this" and Lady that" absolutely ridiculous. For centuries women have complained of inequality with men. In many ways they now have it. But then comes along this idea of lady parking, lady train carriages etc. I've even seen Lady credit cards. All very sexist to me. Now the men are the unequal ones with special treatment being given to just one gender. For every "Lady this" there should be an equal "Gentleman that". To not do so is discriminatory. Probably because some european airports already have a ladies parking and they obviously think that's a good idea. If you don't believe me check-out Frankfurt Airport's website for one. Yermanee p.s. I for one don't mind pampering the ladies but then again I'm old fashioned. Edited August 8, 2014 by yermanee
