webfact Posted August 6, 2014 Share Posted August 6, 2014 Lucky escape as Phuket temple tree falls on car Darawan Naknakhon The large branch lies across the back of the pick-up.PHUKET: -- A father and his young daughter had a lucky escape this morning (August 6) when a large branch of an ancient banyan tree fell on their car as they looked for a parking space on Narison Rd, Phuket Town. Soonthorn Markpone told police that he was on his way to drop his daughter off at school, but could not find parking nearby on the road. So he decided to drive his Isuzu pick-up truck into the grounds of Wat Wichitsongkhram to look for somewhere to park. As they drove slowly past the tree there was a loud cracking and the branch landed on the back of the truck with a huge crash. I've had my pick-up for over 10 years, blessed by monks, still has the white stuff and gold leaf on the ceiling inside and never had a tree fall on it. Absolute proof.
