City continues preparing to mitigate floods

PATTAYA:--With rainy season about to kick into high gear, city workers cleared five drainage pipes at Bali Hai Pier, ensuring nothing blocks floodwaters from emptying into the sea.

Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome led Sanitation Engineering Department staffers to the pier Aug. 5 for the job to clear sand, garbage and natural debris from the tail ends of the pipelines carrying water from eastern parts of the city.
