DagonKhan Posted September 10, 2014 Share Posted September 10, 2014 Plans for coal-fired plant spark alarm in coastal areaResidents of a coastal area in Aeyeywaddy region’s Ngaputaw Township say they have been kept in the dark about a plan to construct a coal-fired power plant in their area, which has sparked fears of environmental damage as well as forced relocation. Ngayokekaung residents said it took the regional government more than a year to inform them that it had signed an initial agreement with India-based Ta Ta Company to construct the plant in their area. The agreement was signed in April 2013.
