Southern police chief: Enough evidence in British tourists' murder case to make arrest now

I have been following this with great interest for the last week , is anyone able to confirm that the man on the left of SM 's 7/11 picture

is the same man seen hanging around with the police at the crime scene on day one ?

And , is there any truth in the statement that two men in SM's 7/11 picture refused to be DNA tested .

I don't think refusal is an option.

will the UK have the samples from the body of Hannah?

And will they have done a post mortem on the bodies?

asked this before but no answer?

I hope the soon to be arrested guys are allowed to give fresh DNA samples to the UK police for comparison.

It's my suspicious side thinking. whistling.gif

Another total BS statement from the RTP.

If there is sufficient evidence to arrest the murderers, then why have they not done so. Arrest FIRST, then make silly statements to the press later.

Second, stating that the police doubt any Thai Mafia are involved goes against everything that has been leaked out so far, especially the articles from the english newspapers this morning. So I am smelling a major cover up and stay tuned for two totally uninvolved scapegoats to be paraded in front of the media very soon.

I would suggest the DNA stuff is available on paper for those who must be involved, which includes the UK.

The OP is just a bunch of poorly translated gibberish. They know who the murderers are but won't make an arrest for a week? The all the other things in the article that don't make sense. At least now we have that MCOT headline. Seems like they made some headway. Maybe that's all there is at this point.

I don't see the problem, they said they have enough evidence for an arrest, they just don;t know WHOM to arrest. Perfectly logical. blink.png

certainly looking that way, no questioning or details on the bar incident is highly suspisious as is the Sean M incident & time it took police to arrive & lack of questioning/details on that incident.

Since they have enough evidence, and seek arrest warrants for the murderers, why are are they still hoping for more suspects ?

All this been rushed up due to 1 person spilling the beans, Sean McAnne, who in my opinion is telling the truth and is found out to be lying as at least got the casemoving

Patsies with matching DNA? They are going to fake those results too?

How would you, I, or anyone else outside a very select group know whether the results match or not? It's not like they are going to be published.

If they try to pin it on a westerner, there will be those who demand to see the results. If it is a local or immigrant worker, you can be sure the word of the police is all you are going to get. And how much is that worth?

What he actually said is that there IS NO Thai mafia, since the locals would have informed the police about that.

I'm not sure if one should inform one about what he is.

Police use superimposition technique to identify murderers of two British tourists

SURAT THANI, Sept 23 -- Police have used superimposition, a specialised forensic medical technique, to compare an image of a man captured by a surveillance camera with the pictures of suspects and expect to find the murderers of two British tourists on Ko Tao in a few days.

The superimposition technique was applied to two of three suspects who allegedly molested Hannah Witheridge, one of the murdered tourists,on Sept 15, the night of the murder.

A tourist had photographed them before the killings.

Pol Lt Gen Panya Mamen, Provincial Police Region 8 commissioner, said investigators made much progress and police sought search warrants today with the hope to arrest more suspects.

Police would also summon others who had left Ko Tao for additional questioning. The case should be closed in a few days because police have enough witnesses and evidence, Gen Panya said.

Results from DNA tests on two speedboat attendants did not match DNA samples found on the dead and other evidence, he added. (MCOT online news)

I was once on Koh Tao myself and had to leave as my girl I met there had her dogs shot and I was told to leave quickly for my safety so there is an element of bad guys. I also had my wallet stolen but after reporting it to the police I was told it never happened on that island and it must have happened on the transport to BKK and to report it in BKK.

They hush up everything there,

Is it just me, or do you get the feeling that the real killers ( if there really are Mafias here!??!) will get off scot free and the charged will be some poor despot, that gets framed coffee1.gif

That's two people that have absolutely no idea what the word 'despot' means.

One tourist murder suspect now arrested, another on the run

KOH TAO: -- The police have arrested a suspect in the murder of two British tourists in Koh Tao and are still hunting for a second suspect who has escaped into Bangkok.

Eighth Region Police Command commissioner Pol Lt-Gen Panya Mamen identified the first suspect as Mon.

He is the brother of a village headman in Koh Tao.

He was arrested after evidence which police collected were examined and proved he was involved, he said.

He also said another suspect is also a son of that village headman. But he has already to Bangkok.

He said both suspects were captured by CCTV cameras and the police have gathered enough evidence to implicate them in the murders.

He said the southern police were coordinating with the metropolitan police to hunt him down, and expected to apprehend him today.

The southern police chief also assured the public that there was no arrest of scapegoats in this murder case as it now is a focal attention of the world.

He also dismissed any suggestion of local mafias or influential people that could twist the investigation with promise that local influence would pose no obstacle to the police investigation.

Instead the police will eliminate all these mafias, he said.

Meanwhile a police source said the police are also looking into the cooperation of those who helped to arrange the suspect to escape. They also will be arrested.
