martabak
Hi - I'm planning a trip from Kawthuong to Yangon. The 500-600km road from Kawthuong to Dawei is particularly mysterious: what are my transport options and what are the road conditions? I will be travelling at the very end of the wet season. Please share any tips, advice, stopovers or experiences... thanks!
Popular Post Tomtomtom69
Myeik to Yangon is no problem although the roads south of Mawlamyine to Dawei and Myeik are in poor condition, winding in parts and slow, but Kawthoung to Myeik is said to be restricted unless you go via ferry. There is also a train to Dawei, but it's so slow that unless you have all the time in the world, it's better to either hop on/off for just a short stretch (say Yangon to Mawlamyine) or just take the bus or a long distance taxi. Having said that some foreigners have recently managed to pass from Myeik to Kawthoung overland by road.
