ikke
Tourists arrives at the hotel: "Welcome to Thailand. Congratulations for getting thru the airport without getting scammed. Don't overstay or you will be blacklisted. Here, wear this wristband and stay in the safety zone. Don't use the taxies and avoid the jet ski thugs. Prepare yourself for random body searches and piss tests. The police are worthless so don't get into trouble and whatever you do, stay out of the King Power Duty Free shops when you depart. And keep that wrist band on in case they find your corpse. Have a nice stay." Jurassic park ..... ? LOL...

12DrinkMore
Utterly bizarre. Minders! Wristbands! Tracking devices! Roped off party enclosures! I am struck dumb by the utter idiocy of this. The hub of unbelievable stupidity. Hey! You up there in power. How about catching and sentencing a few murderers and thieves? Now that would be a novel idea. Edited September 30, 2014 by 12DrinkMore

Scully
This is what happens when Thai's don't challenge their superiors, khun kobkarn has a terrible idea and her aides all nod at such a good idea. She should have listened to the hotels, but what would the little man know.
Snig27
i love this country and wont live anywhere else but government officials here must be most stupid brainless politicians and beurocrats ever or anywhere on this planet You have to laugh or you'd cry These are not government officials, they are hand-selected ministers making these sorts of statements as often as not. Weren't all Yingluck's ministers always hand picked selected based on knowledge, skill and ability to do the best job - and she had 6 different cabinets in less than 3 years! Hope there's not going to be a repeat performance. It was announced very publicly that non performing ministers would be removed. Does that mean the ones who perform badly too or just those the do nowt? Not quite sure what Yingluck has to do with this? The point is, the self-anointed one announced he was going to do away with all this sort of stuff and yet it's getting worse. How many extra generals do we have now? Appointed in the past couple of months. Oh for a free press where switched on Thai (and there are many millions) can deal to this sort of nonsense. Meanwhile the economy dropped to .5% growth ...
Popular Post sgtsabai
The inmates are running the insane asylum. Ah, but wait, while not a tourist, I am thinking maybe a "minder" of my choosing that didn't mind sharing "minder" duties with an other "minder" or 2 around might not be a bad idea...lol. Funny, I don't think the wife would go for it, she might like the electronic tracking device though. Absolute insanity. Smile the man said, things could get worse, I smiled and sure enough, things got worse.

SupermarineS6B
Well i've said it before, well done Thailand you've not only cocked up the best two saleable commodities in the world, (P-ss and pus-y) and now this latest half baked idea just gives an indication why the place is going down the toilet. Wouldn't it just be easier to catch the killers from Koh Tao, hang em up to dry in front of the rest of the scaly cockroaches, and let this be a lesson to all would be murderers and rapists ? You know, the whole world has now realised that in Thailand, anybody (Especially a local) can get away with murdering anyone (Especially a Farang) and the powers to be (For a price) will guarantee immunity from prosecution......... Real good for tourism...... I'm expecting the TAT to produce increasing tourist figures shortly........ ( Getting like China this place ) Next it'll be party political broadcasts, morning, noon, and night...........Wristbands ? What next ? sprq
“The next step would be some sort of electronic tracking device but this has not yet been discussed in detail.” Oh, this will be a paradise for tourists, treated as criminals with electronic devices. Are these people serious coming up with ideas like that? I'm afraid so. It's what you get from an education system that discourages analytical and critical thinking: people shooting their mouths off without assessing the ramifications of what they are saying.

heyexile
I suggest that they get ID numbers or barcodes tattooed on the wrists, and give us all a coloured armband based on our nationality. Perhaps put us in a barbed wire fenced off area for our own protection as well. If the Tourism Ministry is capable of even mulling tagging for foreigners, imagine what the ISOC (Internal Security Operations Command) is up to with their own population? http://isaanrecord.com/2014/09/28/reconcilliaton http://twitter.com/pakhead
klauskunkel
Thailand mulls ID wristbands, curfews for tourists makes sense. It's so much harder to establish a competent, dedicated and reliable police force - that's totally unmullable!...No Thai mulling expert would be found to even remotely mull this about. Phuketboy
This guy seriously needs to be sacked and replaced because he is clearly out of his depth. What educated person would come up with such ridiculous ideas and concepts. Yes there is a problem, so why not have law enforcement do their jobs or maybe a law in place that protects a persons safety. One might suggest automatic 10 years in jail for any Thai causing harm to anyone else especially that of tourists. One could suggest that it could work both ways. Law enforcement need to work harder to get people like this off the streets and out of society.
