Lite Beer Posted October 11, 2014 Share Posted October 11, 2014 Singkhon border point to become a permanent crossingPRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN, 11 October 2014 (NNT) –The Thai and Myanmar leaders have agreed to upgrade the Singkhon border crossing to the status of a permanent crossing point, a government official has advised.The Governor of Prachuab Khiri Khan, Weera Sriwatanathrakul said that during his official visit to Myanmar, the Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and President Thein Sein discussed an upgrade of the Singkhon border crossing. Both countries agreed that an upgrade could be done before the confirmation of a border area survey report, from the Thai-Myanmar Joint Boundary Commission.The Thai government can proceed to make an announcement of the upgrade after the approval of cabinet.There will be a celebration of the opening of the permanent crossing point and activities to promote the relationship between the two countries. This is an important step forward for the economy in Prachuab Khiri Khan province, and helps prepare it for the AEC integration next year, said the governor.The PM’s visit to Myanmar also saw the signing of a sister cities agreement between Prachuab Khiri Khan province of Thailand and Marid City of Myanmar. -- NNT 2014-10-11 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

ukrules Posted October 14, 2014 Share Posted October 14, 2014 The last I heard no foreigners were allowed to cross this border and I'm sure it's still the same.
