BANGKOK: -- Police have filed an additional charge of reckless action leading to deaths against the driver of a speedboat that crashed into a fishing boat on Sunday off Koh Phi Phi in Krabi province, injuring several people and killing two tourists.

Muang Krabi Police superintendent Pol Colonel Pruettipong Nuchanart said yesterday that after the South Korean tourists' bodies were discovered on Tuesday evening, police filed an additional charge against speedboat driver Surat Mas-osot, 36, and objected to any requests for bail.

The bodies of the two tourists will be returned to South Korea tonight.

In related news, speedboat operator Nirut Witchapin said yesterday that his company would take care of all 35 injured tourists, including the cost of accommodation pending their return flights. Medical expenses, meanwhile, will be covered by two insurance companies - one of which will pay each injured victim Bt15,000 and Bt100,000 for each deceased victim, while the other will pay Bt1 million for the dead and up to Bt500,000 to the injured persons. Nirut said the company had also apologised to the families of the two deceased on Tuesday.

And also never get in any minibus or a coach ;

not a day on thai public TV without seeing a coach on the roof or in a ravine or a minibus destroyed in the back of a big truck .

And also never rent a car , nearly 30.000 dead on the roads in Thailand last year.

Trains are more safety, when they leave the rails it's at a slow speed so rarely people are dead .

Maybe the best for tourists is not coming to Thailand and buy a DVD about it to watch on their TV at home .tongue.png

I've been on those boats.

Tourists sea-sick puking everywhere do to the boats smashing in to the waves, jumping up and down.

The drivers are Lunatics. wai2.gifwai.gif

I knew a couple of them.

They want to get rid of the falang quick, so they have extra time to crack some Leo's...

Same as the border run vans.

In this case the Police objected to a request for bail. Because el speedboato is a blue collar guy.

Anyone want to make a list of even more serious crimes where bail is still granted despite the high risk run factor?

Not saying they are wrong to deny bail to this guy, just saying other 'types' of people would easily get it
