Initial DNA test clears Koh Tao village head’s son of murder

BANGKOK: -- DNA test conducted by the Police hospital has cleared the son of the influential village headman on Koh Tao of any involvement in the murder of two British tourists on the island in mid-September.

Mr Woraphan Tuvichien, the headman of Koh Tao, voluntarily took his son, Mr Warot, to the police to have DNA tests to prove his innocence after it was widely circulated in the social media that the young man might be involved in the murder.

Result of the Police hospital’s test showed that the DNA of Mr Warot’s tissue sample did not match with the DNA of the criminal suspect found in the body of one of the two victims, Ms Hannah Witheridge.

However, Pol Lt-Gen Prawuth Thavornsiri, the police spokesman, said that police were waiting for the results of DNA tests from three other institutes namelyP Chulalongkorn, Ramathibodi and Siriraj hospitals. He expected the results tomorrow (Saturday).

Must be worth contacting ''The Guinness Book of records'' so as to confirm the result as the fastest ever conclusive D.N.A. test ever completed but possibly creative in its result(s)

Yes and surprise, surprise the BIB "doctors" managed to have the results a full 24 hours before their colleagues at the three other hospitals!!

The police are so used to get away with anything in this country, that they consider everyone else stupid.

But the buck stops here!!wink.png

I have a Thai friend that once pressed charges against a "kamnam" for defamation, he had a 2 hours video as evidence. The judge dismissed the case in 30 minutes (evidence on paper: time between case got submitted to the judge and time of dismissal). So this good honest judge managed to defy time and watch a 2 hours video in just 30 minutes.

minimum of 72 hours but after all this is amazing Thailand

I was under the believe that Proper DNA tests take a fair time to process and should be done in Forensic Laboratory.....all this rushed testing is crap and the pommy cops should insist on a proper forensic test, not just some local thai hospital.....

Boris the Blade post # 20

and there was a used condom lying about with guess what...no dnd on the inside.....not that I am accusing the innocent Mr Nomsod

And there was a used condom lying about with guess what...no D.N.A. on the inside....

.This was due to the fact that the ''found'' condom had fallen off of the head of the first member of the Thai police farce force (Somchai Onan) as he was cunmming to the scene.whistling.gif

the real problem will be with the initial DNA samples....how were they taken ?, were they taken by a real doctor that knows about DNA collection ? were they tempered with ? all the other DNA samples can be taken over and over again.....

This is the 21st Century. In many labs all ower the world, DNA test results are available within a few hours, if using the most advanced methods: http://www.angliadna.co.uk/Express-DNA-Testing

Now what is the next move in the case

The next move is they have to find a judge who agrees to find the Burmese guilty.

As with this farcical DNA show, the trial will be along the same lines, and with a similar predetermined outcome.

This would make a good movie. Especially if there was a surprise witness to refute the evidence in hand. Perhaps proceeds would go to an international fund to assist the families of victims. I would hate to see somebody capitalize on the tragedy, but public awareness should be the goal.
