BANGKOK: -- Thawatchai Siangjaew, deputy director general of Regional Public Prosecution 8, announced yesterday that prosecutors should be able to indict two Myanmar men charged with the murder of two Britons on Koh Tao by the end of this month.

Citing his earlier chat with Provincial Police Region 8 deputy chief Pol Maj-General Praween Pongsirin, Thawatchai said the additional police investigation requested by prosecutors was about 80-per-cent complete and that police would submit the case report again in two weeks.

On receiving the report, prosecutors would be able to conclude it and pass it to the Samui public prosecutor to indict Win Zaw Htun and Zaw Lin, he said, adding that this should take place by the end of this month.

'Case being handled carefully'

He confirmed that the public prosecutor and police working on this case were trying to be careful and as detailed as possible, while keeping the Office of the Attorney General constantly updated on developments.

He went on to say that British police had visited the crime scene and that they should be satisfied with the procedure followed as per the Thai justice system.

Meanwhile, police escorted the two men - both 21 - to Koh Samui court yesterday morning to apply for a fourth extension of 12-days in detention.

The duo appeared calm and less stressed compared to before, possibly because of frequent visits from their lawyer and representatives of the National Human Rights Commission, police said.

Well that is one theory. They could also appear more calm because they haven't just been doused in petrol and threatened with a waving zippo. Or had boiling water poured on their arm pits and neck to extract a false confession. I guess the knowledge that at least 400k people around the world are wanting to see the "real" killers caught in this case, and refuse to be bullied by uniformed cowards, will also be buoying their moods.

Two things only seem (to me) certain.

The two young UK people are the tragic, murder victims.

The two young Burmese lads are the tragic, victims of a stitch up.

I simply cannot believe the "evidence" so far presented.

it reminds me of the 'we will have the culprits in three days" comments. How could they know that? How can they know indictment will happen by the end of the month? The big difference with this case is that, through social media, many more people have heard about it. I don't think this high season will meet Thai expectations. People have changed their holiday plans, me included.

Nick was killed in the same place, after visiting the same bar and in the exact same way as David was, i.e. head wound and drowned. All of this less than 9 months before it happened to David. That's a hell of a coincidence to believe.

If it is true that the killers are still free there then it could stand to reason that they are serial killers.

Now the case is going backwards - because its not cut and dried.

Its a parcel badly tied, and the strings are continually unravelling.

As soon as the death penalty is passed on these 2 scapegoats the whole mess can be forgotten.

I don't think they are going to get the help they need anymore! It seems that interest is slowing down and the leaders of the countries involved are distancing themselves from the justice system.

The prosecutors have taken a long time ensuring they can win the case before taking to court. If they do take to court soon I believe they know they will win the case.

Perhaps when they do they will shock us all with damning evidence we know nothing about.

I still think there must be much more evidence leading elsewhere but it doesn't seem to be getting followed.

So many people are watching! This is a very important case for this country!

I hope they get it right for the 2 that will be sentenced if the case is won, For Justice for Hannah and David, For the murderers that will be free to do it again should they be wrong and for the way people see this countries police and judicial system as an incorrect decision will effect the country dramatically

I saw an interview with the mother of this boy who died on koh tao, she said she was told he had fallen from his hillside villa down the rocks and drowned in the sea, when she went to identify the body she said there wasn't a mark on his face which she found very strange as he had fallen down the rocks.

These poor burmese guy's are going to be put to death,

for something they didn't do.

My God, this now prove's to me just how unremorseful and

how pathetic the RTP and the justice system is here.

I can only pray that before the end of the month that the

British investagators come forward with their reports that
