this is a classic example as to why the thai police are laughed at by "real" police all over the world. the police need to correct the in house scamming, grow up, grow a pair and start klanging when they walk. the only thing the perps hear is the casual swish of polyester chaff when approached. :-)

This reader is looking forward to a thorough cleaning of the beach and the removal of the jet ski scammers, illegal beach umbrella concessionaires and assorted flotsam.

These superficial roundups are nothing more than ineffective posturing and appear more of a publicity stunt than constructive policing. But then again, I'm not in charge and am only an observer.

The offenders each received their stern warning cheerfully, on a small whiteboard. The officer issuing the stern warnings received one himself, when the cost of whiteboard markers had to be deducted from the funds collected. In other news...

With the 7,000 collected from the girls, why didn't the Police put them on a police bus and take them back to their villages in Nakhon Nowhere?

Err, because most of the girls would beat the empty bus back to Pattaya? Nice way to blow a hard earned 7000.

Here we go again. Grab 100 baht of everyone and let them off with a "Stern Warning". Why don't the Cops intern them in Buriram or somewhere over the holidays.

It's the way of things in Thailand.

Small offenders are always let off with a warning, while big shots are sent to prison.

"Why don't the Cops intern them in Buriram or somewhere over the holidays."

Intern them? You mean take them on as fledgling policemen?

If you meant confine them to a barbed-wire enclosed internment or concentration camp because they looked suspicious or were found loitering, that could fail the sniff test when it comes to human rights violations.

Sounds like what you're advocating is that the police round up all the "natives" who have no permit to enter areas reserved for pale skinned people and ship them back to their designated homelands.

Internment is the imprisonment or confinement[1] of people, commonly in large groups, without trial. Collins English dictionary defines internment as "the act of interning or state of being interned, esp of enemy citizens in wartime or of terrorism suspects".

The thieving ladyboys I would agree with you, but harmless women standing about hoping for clients, leave them alone, they are doing no harm.

Wow .... 100 Baht, very dissuasive!! cheesy.gif cheesy.gif cheesy.gif

That will keep them away of the beach 5 min.

You think that the local head copper hasn't been promising this Xmas bonus to his people for ages now.

All the seasoned workers would have known to be off the street at that time because they do it every year.

Totally useless action as usual. Sounds more like a quick collection of a few thousand baht to by whisky for the Christmas/New Year parties down at Soi 9!

Paying for whisky??

Are you mad?

that's the first thing they get for free in Pattaya.

You guys have no idea about police work.

You have got an old bone : " 100 B. very cheap .... 55555 "

BUT the police made a massive data gathering with photos and finger prints, so when you will be robbed by your next prostitute or lady boy lover, police will show you many pictures about possible perpetrators.

Kaochai mai?

There's NO way they printed/photoed, wrote a report on 70 people,,, averaging say 20 minutes each,,, that's nearly 24 hours,, NO way they put that kinda time in for $7000,,, lol

Next time, please get the Farang customers who force prostitution.

I never been a user of prostitutes, but your post is wrong. They do provide a service, and they also prevent girls from being raped. Just imagine what would happen if all the hookers disappeared.

Yes exactly what I meant ship them off somewhere. It's got nothing to do with their skin color they are just thieves and rogues.
