France is wise in seeking an end to sanctions against Russia

Nothing to do with selling ships I suppose?

Selling ships that are completed, or nearly so. An oil JV. France's economy is in a very sick shape. Hollande is driven by the interests of France, which is his job, not by morals, justice or what's right for Ukraine.

Pure and simple - France needs Russian money.

What Russian money....?

A really good point. If the French are getting paid in Russian rubles, then they are about to get hosed by a currency that has sunk faster than one of those ships the French are building.

Russia has already paid 700.000.000 euros for first ship 1 year ago. Don't know about payment for second one. And now France doesn't give no ships no money back.

Nut job. Stop sanctions because they are doing what supposed to do? The whole point is to make it hurt more than withdrawing. Incentive to follow international law. Resolve the Ukraine crisis? Yeah, Ivan.. go home. Very clear example of just plain old territory grabbing. Get out. End of discussion. Same for Crimea... Russia signed treaty guaranteeing border integrity when Ukraine unilaterally disarmed nukes.

no way is Putin backing down because of pressure from the west, and trying to bankrupt them Regan style is bad for the world economically and world peace. best to give Putin a way out, kiss and make up

The only way for Putin to get out of this is to kiss both of Barack's cheeks cheesy.gif

That must be so annoying.

All the posts are full of best intentions.

All the posts show very little knowledge of situation in Russia.

Oil prices fell dramatically not thanks to USA wishes only. But they definitely helped.

The difference between NATO and EU is USA.

USA wants weak EU and Russia (China would be nice too, but...)

Sanctions to which EU reluctantly agreed hurt Russia and EU but not USA.

Obama is not USA. Putin is not Russia. Hurting Russia does not hurt Putin & Co.

Ukraine-Russia conflict is more a responsibility of Ukraine than Russia. But USA definitely helped.

Russian Rouble fell dramatically not thanks to USA or EU but was dropped by Putin & Co.*** USA has definitely helped.

Every time EU and USA use sanctions they hurt Russian People, not Putin & Co.

There will be no Revolt, Revolution or Uprising against Putin & Co in Russia.

Of Putin & Co ruling Russia the essential part is Co. Putin can be easily replaced if he does not tow the line.

***N.B. Any reasonable, logical explanation why the halving of oil price halved the petrol price anywhere except Russia where it has almost doubled?

As said above hurting Russia (People) does not hurt Putin & Co.
