ExPratt
<script type='text/javascript'>window.mod_pagespeed_start = Number(new Date());</script> The Chinese already built the Beijing - Shanghai High Speed Railway which is standard gauge, 1,318kms long, in 2years (2008-2010). 130,000 workers were used during construction, track laying only took 4 months. It was handed over for public service the following year, so it is possible. However, the Chinese do not have to put up with Thai political interference and changes of Government. The aim of this Government is to complete the High Speed Railway whilst it is still in power. Been having a delve, The civils started in 2004. There was a dispute about the type of track form until 2008 so the track was built in 2 years after the majority of civils were finished. The finished article is not fit for design in the truest form , it was built for 380 speed and now line speed has been reduced to 300 or more regularly 250. So 6 years to complete , which to be fair isn't bad , but its not 2 years
rickirs
No right-of-ways acquired, no finalized route, no local/provencial coordination with potential developers, no surveys, no geological studies, no environmental studies, no permits, etc. and the line will be COMPLETED in 2 years. Are there any contingencies for potential lawsuits or for any unexpected events like adverse weather or work stoppages? And wasn't the NACC going to review the govrnment-to-government deal for any potential corruption and price gouging? Surely such considerations would defer the project's startup date. Three to five yars would seem to be a more reasonable timetable. The Junta defies creditability almost every day and today is just another day. Fortunately for the Junta, it has a tool no elected democratic government would have to cut rhough all the "red tape" - MARTIAL LAW. Unfortunately for the Thai people, the Junta will remain firmly in control of the government beyond two years.

bheard
Two clangers in a day by Prajin. Minister for clangers. Might be good for him if he was introduced to the idea of 'cogitating' . . . before opening his mouth.

DividendGuy
They need to make sure that the rails will be the continuous laid rails meaning there will be no individual rails, but one solid welded rail and thus no click-click sound made. I got a bad feeling that the Thais will not be getting the best up to date rail system from the Chinese.
