Podiatry is not a world-wide specialty ... at least using that term. It become a specialty in the US and has spread further afield, but not everywhere... mainly in North America, UK and Australia.

In hospitals here you'd probably get as good or better treatment asking for an orthopedic specialist who treats foot problems.

Podiatry or podiatric medicine is a branch of medicine devoted to the study of diagnosis, medical and surgical treatment of disorders of the foot, ankle, and lower extremity. The term podiatry came into use in the early 20th century in the United States and is now used worldwide, within countries such as the United Kingdom and Australia.[1]

Thanks to those who responded to my request for a Podiatrist. I have been to the Podology Center in Bangkok and, while I hesitate to call them frauds, they are not forthcoming with the truth. These people are not Podiatrist. They may have some type of training in Germany as they claim but they do not have medical degrees. I asked this question while making an appointment and was assured that they were certified podiatrist. This is untrue. Only a medical doctor who is trained as podiatrist can be one.

The fellow from Chiang Mai, seemingly a self-appointed "Doctor", may have attended some classes in Germany but most assuredly is not a medical doctor by any stretch of the imagination. Good that you questioned the qualifications rather than just blindly going for an appointment.

Check the Bangkok Nursing Home Hospital website. They have a foot clinic open Wednesday and Friday mornings. They took care of complications arising from my ingrown toenail and knew what they were doing. Not cheap, though, but popular.

I think Theptarin Hospital on Rama IV Road has similar facilities but they are more oriented towards diabetics..Their foot clinic used to be open on Saturday but that might have changed. Cost is more affordable.

This is quite late in the game.  I'd been looking for a podiatrist myself in the past few days.  I found a real podiatrist who graduated from Chula and had more training in Boston.  He's very knowledgeable and you can expect the same quality of treatment and communication you have in America.  He even went out of the way to treat me.

He has his own clinic.  His website is in Thai though...  http://www.drcherdpong.com/contact/

Here's his email: [email protected]

After 3 -4 terrible podiatrists I found a brilliant one through St Louis Hospital. They made special orthotic insoles and much cheaper than those advertised here. Based in Bangkok near Thon Buri contact [email protected] and they speak good English

Were you dealing with a doctor (MD), and if so, who?

In my experience here, the doctors typically tend to outsource any orthotic insole preparation to outside technicians.

I paid a pretty sum for a pair of supposedly custom fit orthotic insoles from one of the doctors mentioned above from Bangkok Hospital, and they pretty much never helped with my arch issues.

Later, I had a technician that I was referred to by Phayathai II Hospital end up modifying some of my existing original shoe insoles without doing any direct measuring, and those ended up being way to high for my arches and totally unwearable, even after several revisions.

In the end, I ended up doing better with trial and error ordering arch support inserts from Amazon until I found a style that worked, at a fraction of the price.

Yes I dealt with many Doctors/specialists including a terrible one at Bangkok Hospital.

My point is meant to be helping people who want good quality and inexpensive orthotic insoles/supports. Mine were perfect and I believe will enable me to avoid surgery. I am sorry you had a bad experience. I am also not willing to write more on the topic about doctors and hospitals. If you want a good orthotic insole then I recommend them. That's all.

The thread of most replies to Podiatrist topic seems to be mechanical foot support, i.e., orthotics, etc.

I have an actual foot problem. Searching BNH hospital, I found this:

https://www.bnhhospital.com/find-doctor/search-result/?dname=chamnanni

Ortho Dr with foot/ankle specialty with clinic 1st & 3rd Saturdays.
