The cabinet approves 20 million baht to solve iodine deficiency problem

The cabinet has approved 20 million baht to solve problem of iodine deficiency among Thai people.

Inadequate intake of iodine can cause diminished intelligence and retardation in all age groups.

The cabinet also has approved another 18 million baht to set up Ban Khun Poom Home at Vajira (วชิระ) Hospital in Phuket in memory of Khun Poom Jensen, the only son of Princess Ubolratana.

Khun Poom died in the tsunami that hit southern Thailand in 2004.
