webfact 78,909
Two confess to killing Turkish tourist in SamuiTHE NATIONKOH SAMUI: -- A SECURITY guard and the manager of a bar in Koh Samui confessed on Friday to conspiring to shoot dead a Turkish tourist, police said yesterday.Kabin Srisa-ard, 27, the guard, and Kanapong Nakwatchara, 56, the manager of the pub on Chaweng Beach, confessed after several hours of police interrogation that on Friday they conspired to shoot Polot Mehmet, 37, with a .38-calibre pistol that was found in Mehmet's hand. Police said they confessed that one of the guns used in the crime belonged to Kabin and the other belonged to Kanapong. After shooting Mehmet, they put Kabin's gun in the victim's hand. When they realised a security camera had captured the crime, they repositioned the camera but failed to see that the incident was captured by several other cameras.Police said the men told them the Turkish tourist often came to the bar, got drunk, intimidated the bar's staff and created a scene. On Friday, they said, Mehmet got drunk and forced staff to keep the bar open. The staff pleaded with him to leave but he walked to the counter with a clearly visible pistol tucked inside his belt. Kanapong shot him in the abdomen with his own gun and then Kabin shot him in the head with his gun. Kabin and Kanapong then tried to cover up the crime to confuse the police. Police yesterday brought both men to the bar to re-enact the crime before detaining them at the Provincial Court. Popular Post HeijoshinCool 7,921
At this point, well done by the RTP. But ThaiVisa needs someone to create and manage a new forum: "Whatever Happened To …?" There are so many stories that have disappeared, that readers are interested in. What, for example, will happen to these two retards, after the story dies away? A year or two in prison, if not less?

With all due respect it would not have taken Sherlock Holmes to work out what actually happened in light of the multiple camera situations and thus the evidence on offer which showed a number of clear and complete visual recording of the incident. The situation could not be covered up phrodan post # 5 Makes all the members that said the police were complicit in a cover up look stupid. Good work by the RTP.
Popular Post jaidam 9,641
Good to see the RTP have learned that cctv can be a useful aide in solving murder cases. There was a recent case not a million miles away from Samui, in which the RTP absolutely refused to look at cctv from a notorious beachside bar in close proximity to the murder. Local residents begged them, just get the cctv, you will catch the murderers, it's so easy. Police did the classic doggy refusing to look at his clarts on the kitchen floor - total refusal to review cctv, and fecklessly arrested a couple of innocents. I wonder, would the RTP have reviewed the cctv in this case had the security guard and bar owner been related to very "influential" families?

Did not the RTP initially and immediately rule this a suicide? Complicity or or extreme stupidity, hardly any room for praise to the RTP.

When I read this story, I found myself wondering why they have not framed up a couple of foreign laborers. I conclude that the bar owner is not influential enough.

Nemesis7 721
At least and last RTP did take a stand and arrested the curlprits. Job well done . Ensuring proper justice will for sure make thailand a safer place, that's what I believe.
Popular Post amykat 2,284
Re the "reason" given above for killing the man ...having to do with intimidation and "having a clearly visible pistol" (sorry I can't find a way to quote from the OP), did we not read yesterday that the reason the shooters planted a pistol on the victim, was because they were unaware of the fact that he already had one???
