23 Banks Bombed In South Thailand

I am a bit out of my depth when it comes to peace talks

can you let me know where and when peace talks have ever been successful

I find it a bit hard to understand how dialogue can be fruitful when bombs, loaded guns and hidden agendas rule the talks

Western universities have hundreds of bachelor and master programs majoring in these subjects. 1905, the rough-riding cavalry colonel/President Theodore Roosevelt worked out a peace to the Manchuria-Japan War, for which he became the first US president to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. Peace talks in Central America, headed by Costa Rican president Oscar Arias, ended decades-long conflicts; Arias got the peace prize for that (Costa Rica has no army, and pacifism is taught in the public schools). There are countless more examples, of which well educated people are totally ignorant usually.

Bombs, guns, etc., do not rule effective peace talks. But ignorance rules warfare.

Any idiot can punch you in the face. It takes knowledge, skill, and wisdom to talk him out of it before he hits you.

Mr.Thongchai Charoensit (ธงชัย เจริญสิทธิ์), Assistant Managing Director of Kasikorn Bank said that the recent bomb attacks at major commercial banks in the three southern border provinces have affected people’s confidence in the economy and services provided by the banks for the customers.

He said the bank has already purchased metal and weapon detective machines

Does he mean a metal detecting device/machine :D

both for the gates and knobs in its seven branches in the troubled area. He said the equipments have been installed and ready to be implemented.

Mr. Thongchai said the bank security officials and staff members will teach people how to use the equipments.

Customers must use this detective machine to detect weapons that they may carry? :D

He disclosed that the bank has set 2 levels for the services.

The first level of services will concern withdrawing money from store room.

He said the staff has been instructed to withdraw only an edquate amount of money necessary and to keep accessories and extras in the store room. In this way, staff members will have a clearer vision of what is happening in the bank.

Hows keeping excess cash and accessories(?) obstruck the view in the bank? :D

Mr Thongchai further added that bank staff were instructed to complete their work by 16.00 hrs for safety reasons.

Doesn't bank lobby closes at 15:30 hrs which mean now they'll close at 14:30 to give back office staff time to close by 16:00 :D

Second level of service will be implemented once unusual situation has been detected. He said the gates will be locked at all times and will be opened for customers accordingly.

He stated that the customers will not be allowed to wait inside the banks.

Customers have to wait outside the bank to receive or get cash? :D

He believes such measures will increase security for customers and the staff.

However, he admitted that the customers might face inconvenience from these measures.

Not anymore than the beginning or ending of the month or a day or so after a long weekend :o

To those who cry "Muslim" every time a small group of extremist separatists take extreme actions in bombing, booby-trapping, shooting in the south of Thailand....let me ask you this:

why don't you also cry "Hindu" every time the Tamil Tigers take similar actions?

why don't you also cry "Buddhist" when the Sinhalese government kills 17 tsunami aid workers or the Thai army kills 70+ southern thai men by suffocation in an army truck/

why don't you cry "Jew" everytime Israelis invade Palestine or Lebanon

why don't you cry "Christian" when George Bush & his witless coalition invade Irag, Afghanistan and re-colonise the world via FTA's?

I was a part of that witless coalition you brainless moron. All these people do is hate. They don't care that YOU "feel" for them. They would kill you, your wife, your mother, your father, your children. You are not one of them and therefore you the enemy. MY coalition freed 55 million people and gave them the chance to vote and the possibility of a free and democratic country. We don't want to be there...those countrys are holes! But this is a WAR! They declared war on the rest of the world a long time ago and it is now that people are seeing for what it is. The Israleis invaded? Are You serious? The Hezbos fired how many rockets into Israel? They sent how many suicide bombers into Israel (including children and teenage girls)? You need to think for yourself and stop reading liner notes from liberal doctrine. You go ahead and keep pleading that we need to understand while they blow your country to heck. Oh yes, one more thing...when was the last time the U.S. was attacked...

spot on? what do all of the above have in common? nothing!

Yes, the militants in this case were almost certainly Muslim. The terrorists in Sri Lanka are Hindus but are never referred to in the media as such ....neither are any of those "terrorists" who represent religions other than Islam. You might like to consider why this is

The IRA was finally stopped when the Irish Catholics disavowed them. Lets see...beheadings, suicide bombings, mass murder, mass riots when somebody draws a cartoon or a pope makes a comment about rioting (inspirational), killings thousands of their own religious bretheren in order to instigate open civil wars. Killing thousands of their own countrymen in order to instigate open civil war. Openly calling for the genocide of a specific group of people.....Hmm. I haven't heard too much outrage about that from the "leaders" of this religion. Why is that? Can some of the enlightened of this forum answer that? What will it take? Will take a dirty bom in a major metropolitan city? Or, will there be those who still call for moderation and that we should "talk" and "understand" and "negotiate"? Spain tried that and then what happened?

Needs people like fruitbatt to wake up and loose the PC book of useful intelectual retorts. This is going to be a full on war now, and the Muslim population have to stang up and fight, or fall along with the cowardly militants.

Churchill was criticised for locking up the entire Italian and Japanese popluation of England during the last war.. Bloody worked didn't it as they didn't pose any problems.

You cannot apease these people. Look at Spain. They were bombed, voted liberal, pulled out of Iraq and Afganistan and and....

The muslims bombed them again as they (the Muslims) said that southeren spain was part of their proposed Islamic state.

Get real you appologists. Hat Yai is a vibrant and fun loving town. Its the fun factor that so enraged them. The underground bar is a live music bar with no "hostesses" or anything. Just happy people singing along to music.

The press are as craven as ever and will never knock them.

Can't fight, won't fight.. lets kill anyone happier than ourselves! I remember the 3 schoolgirls last year beheaded on their way home. Anyone for Islam?

UPDATE

The 11.00 TV-News reports 4 dead and 60+ injured.

Further bombs, including one at Big-C, failed to expolde due to the phone-system being cut, by the police. Well Done - the boys in brown.

Well done the boys in brown indeed.

The police take far too much stick on this site and do a great job with the means at their disposal.

Hope all this takes the sting out of some of the other threads as the Thais seem to be coming in for too much critisism recently.

We westerners seem to think all the law changes and visa rules, reporting to immigration when you move, change address, hotel etc. are aimed at us. There are more serious reasons for all this than just making it harder for a falang to drink and shag here for more than 6 months of the year.

Check this out as well. I saw the BBC down there last month and remembered they had interviewed these vermin.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/5252528.stm

Being none white murderous vermin the BBC will protect them with all their might.

There is a reply box for your views at the bottom of it. I suggested the them that they help the Thai authorities as much as they can.

Should we also suggest to the Thai Authorities, that they round up these lowlife journalist propagandists by their Politically Correct <deleted> until they talk.
