The Tiger Temple is back in the spotlight today. Three tigers have mysteriously disappeared from the temple, or have been purposely removed. The tiger’s disappearance occurred after new complaints were voiced over the welfare of the animals.

Police, soldiers and park authorities attempted to go to the temple, but were turned away. The temple refused to cooperate, forcing the group to seek a court order to enter the temple. It is expected that the group will return to the temple shortly to investigate what happened to the three tigers that are now unaccounted for by the park.

The tigers, all between the ages of 3 and 7, are just 3 among 146 tigers held at the temple. Microchip scanners will be used to help identify the tigers.

.

During the initial probe, staff refused to open the tiger cages, forcing a search warrant to be issued. Authorities have stated that they will confiscate all of the tigers if they find the temple is unable to properly care for them. Plans are already in place to transfer the tigers to the Ratchaburi province, and relocate them to another sanctuary.

The Tiger Temple just recently had 100 hornbills seized after the temple was accused of being involved in illegal trade.
