simple1
The pig farmers are Thai citizens as well and other people in the area are, it's only followers of ISLAM who are trying to get their own way as usual, lets hope they fail miserably. A really ridiculous comment to claim it's only Muslims who try to get their own way.
simple1
Indeed, defending the way Muslims press everywhere for special treatment is pathetic Yet again the Thai Muslim community in this topic are within their rights to protest against a large pig farm close to their village. To vilify a community for peaceful protest for no other reason than their religion is the ugly face of bigotry.
LivinginKata
This topic has gone wildly off track with members banging away about various intolerances. Many posts removed. Please try to stay on the pig farm topic - thank you.
siam2007
They are certainly entitled to protest, and have a right to have a say in the businesses that pop up around them. Hopefully the end result will be agreeable to everyone in the area. How many people are now reading these comments just to see what the Islam-bashers have to say? Indeed it is not very thoughtful to build such a farm next to a village that is 100% Muslim. But most probably the owner of the land couldn't care less. On the other hand I would like to emphasize that Muslim communities in Thailand do it the same way, for example by building mosques and disturbing people's sleep by calls to Prayer at 4.30 a.m. in areas were 98% of the locals are non-Muslims (Bangkapi district in Bangkok, for example)
DirtyDan
A single pig puts out as much waste as 3 humans - and it's foul, sulphur-rich waste too (stinky). Think about it: a farm with a 1000 pigs pop up next door is like suddenly have an apartment complex with 3000 people living there. That's a lot of shit to have flowing away from the farm, especially if they don't have proper waste treatment facilities set up for the operation. It takes more to set up a large, hog farming operation than simply clearing a piece of land. Modern farming is a factory process and should have to follow proper industrial hygiene and hazardous waste regulations.
