As the bright color balloons filled with nitrous oxide - also known as laughing gas - are gaining popularity in the country's holiday resorts among foreign tourists, Thai tourism authorities are not happy with the sale of this hottest thing to tourists as they feared that it could tarnish the image of the country.

TAT: Thailand's transformation from Land of Smiles (LoS) to Land of Laughs (LoL) must be stopped...nobody will take us seriously, lol! We demand that the police pops the balloons immediately, lol! We will offer a Golden Needle award to the officer who pops the most balloons, lol!

It`s their bodies and if these self destructive losers want to poison themselves with Nitrous oxide gas, then who cares and let them get on with it.

When are you going to stop breathing? Because you don't seem to know that each breath kills you by a very very very small amount.

Look at Facebook of some Thai teenagers, especially from poor families, doing met, driving drunken, selling sex ...

parents see, teachers see, their friends see ... no one cares.

What interest me more is that I've seen here in Thailand many times farang, all-female groups drinking in night clubs, parting on beach ... July-September, Christmas, beginning of the year. Obviously drunken, *high* and almost naked. Young individuals, 20 years old, students.

Who pay for that, their parents, or do they have some extra money from last summer job?

Guys and nightlife in Thailand, ok ... but girls? I mean ... What's gonna be next?

What do you mean, that girls shouldn't have fun? What's gonna be next; more girls, I should imagine; they're not hurting other people or forcing others to do as they do - good luck to them - get over it - sometimes girls just wanna have fun!

Until few "high" farang girls got raped then it'll be news and more members will come in to bash thailand again.

When there's demand there's supply. Sadly girls nowadays (foreigners or locals) are so liberal that one wonders what their parents would think of their daughters if they have seen their behavior outside.

Really! This is actually news? What has happened to ThaiVisa lately?, its just full of the most frivolous, un-news worthy articles.

I think its the new click bait mo, before there was "stupid relationship drama", then "outrageous attack on farang by thais", now this type of drivel.

They all have worked, so it will continue, I just have to remember to have my BS radar on high when visiting this site and not post in them like

we just have 555.

Does anybody really care? If so, get a life.

It has nothing to do with care or not.

They are not in a private property, these girls are lying completely drunk in a street (public area) very different!

Daily News said an entertainment venue operator told the reporter that the laughing gas has become a hit among foreign tourists. The operator said western tourists always asked for the laughing gas, prompting many shops, especially those owned by farang, to provide it.

Fun police are definitely out in force on this one. As others have said the buckets of turps they have been drinking was probably more of a contributing factor (and far more detrimental to their health). You've got 3 young girls in their prime "partying" years having a bit of a tear up. Are the being a little stupid and irresponsible... probably. Are they bringing Phi Phi island into disrepute IMHO hardly... are the evil farang the ones are dispensing the majority of the nitrous... not bloody likely. Now most of you old farts will be tsk tsking and calling for their heads but these islands have been promoted as party destinations since Adam was a boy. If the junta wants to stop this sort of behaviour then they need to start with the closing down of every bar in Thailand. Maybe start with the ones where mushrooms and ganja and extasy are so readily available thumbsup.gif hmmmm or maybe some people would be missing out on too many brown envelopes

This old fart was on Phi Phi in the early seventies ( not an old fart then) and it was certainly not promoted as a party destination- it was stunning- just half a dozen people on the beaches .

No drugs, no bars , basic hotels.

Am very lucky to have travelled the world before places were totally ruined by the bar / drug culture

Yeah, I'm with you. Had my honeymoon in Pattaya in 1971, now retired in mid north and seriously pondering selling out, packing up the extended family (kids and grandkids), and moving on to greener pastures. this country is beyond rehabilitation and/or reconciliation.

Normally N20 (Nitrous Oxide) is administered with Oxygen as a 50/50 mixture in medical applications where rapid analgesia is needed without anaesthesia. BOC supply this under the trade name ENTONOX .

http://www.bochealthcare.co.uk/en/Products-and-services/Products-and-services-by-category/Medical-gases/ENTONOX/ENTONOX.html

What is being supplied by street sellers is pure 100% N20 which can rapidly induce hypoxia (lack of Oxygen) in the lungs leading to sudden cardiac arrest. (same applies to Helium balloons).

Just don't take the risk, and discourage others from doing so! crazy.gif

New world youth, not know what to do, not know how to behave, May be mostly don't care.

To me kind of brainless/stupid cattle behavior.

Not only Thailand. Check Southern Europe when the so called students find their way there.

Am I glad I was born in the 40's.

3 girls on laughing gas for a giggle and some of the posters here are having heart attacks. Must be a bundle of laughs to be socialising with some of you. If they were my daughters doing that I would be quite happy.

It seems some of the cranky old gits on here would be more happy if everyone lived under sharia law.

Acting the clown is becoming the new trend among young idiots people.

These girls consider themselves as being real cool, outrageous and a rave. If they haven’t done so already, than I bet they can’t wait to show off to all their so-called mates and post their photos on facebook and other social network sites they subscribe to.

The part they fail to understand is that all their stuff will end up on the toxic web, probably forever that will eventually run full circle and smack them right in their faces later on. Whether it will be future employers, business interests, credibility and people relationships, one way or another it will work against them.

People should keep in mind the Internet can either make you or break you, everything you do can be taken down as evidence and used against you for the rest of your life. Not paranoia, but the reality.

In your twenties and never had a day of fun in your life. Arent you too young to be wasting time on here? Try going out to have some fun.

Do tell what exactly what the girls are doing that is wrong?

They arent in a nightclub taking drugs, they arent harrassing people. They are inhaling something that is harmless and having a giggle. How dare they. ?

This is obviously far worse than the thousands of natives getting out of their skulls on Ya ba and going mental right?

And far worse than all the natives / farangs getting pissed up and causing trouble right?

And far worse than the sex tourists right?

And far worse than gangs of ladyboys mugging farangs right?

And will surely have damaged Phi phi's reputation far more than the psychos on Koh Tao are doing to theirs right?

My god I have rarely seen such an overblown non-event.

In the nineteen twenties, maybe. Do you wear a cravat, smoke a pipe, and turn off the technicolor on your telly as well?

Damn Hipsters.

Yeah imagine if their sons were out getting drunk and having sex. Oh then it would just be boys being boys I'm sure. The hypocrisy of the posters (many of whom I'm sure have paid for the odd service or two over the years) reminds me of all the scandals of the religious right in the USA.

Maybe the real concern is their safety while drunk and high lying on the streets..not exactly the laughing gas.

Well we dont know if they are drunk. Laughing gas wears off fast so we dont know how long they were laying there.

This is on Phi Phi, most young people are the to have fun and do some silly things. These girls dont even register on the silly scale on that island.

If I was walking past I would have a quiet giggle to myself and smile knowing they are having good harmless fun while they are young.

Why shouldn't us Western women go on holiday to Thailand?

Oh, sorry. We don't buy sex. Or have to. Nor do we feel so insignificant in our home countries, that we have to fly half way around the world to get our leg over. Us Western women go to Thailand to have a beach holiday and have fun.

Well, i would rather be lying there getting a giggle from a balloon than having sex with any of the so called Men i have seen around and about in Thailand flaunting their manliness.

It may be legal but it's stupid. A lot of people die from that. I think it excludes oxygen from the system.

Nitrous Oxide as the name suggests is a mixture of nitrogen and oxygen. It is administered in the health system as a mild and quickly dissipating pain reliever, as such, it's virtually useless. I find it difficult to imagine that anyone or anything could get "high" by using it. If the girls really were "high", I would be looking for some other substance, perhaps inside, outside or on the ballon.

Go girl ! I'm only 68 yo and I agree with you , I don't like seeing all the pink ferlung around who think they are God;'s gift to women. They sit around in thier bars in Pattaya and no doubt Samui , oggling girts that are 40 years younger then them, disgusting , just the sort of thing that leaves a nasty taste in my mouth !
