jspill Posted July 20, 2015 Share Posted July 20, 2015 (edited) Was wondering if it's allowed to collate a list of which schools now require 400hrs for a 1 year Ed visa (split into extensions) rather than 200hrs. Doubled prices, closely monitored attendance, 1.5yr limit unless you change language, stuff like that. I was having a debate with someone who said many schools aren't applying any of these rules, they have connections at Immigration in their province, etc. Four I found so far have updated their website to show 400hr courses for 35-40k Baht: http://www.prolanguage.co.th/student-visa-service/ http://www.thaiwalen.com/en/Thai_Language_Prices http://www.plcpattaya.com/index.php/courses-with-education-visas http://www.thaisolutions1502.com/schedules-fees/ This one still says 1-5 years for 25k, not sure if outdated: http://www.tlslanguageschool.com/ed-visa A lot of schools don't want to put that info up publicly, requesting people 'apply by email' for info... It is the Ministry of Education that has set the 400 hour a year requirement to get the supporting documents for a non-ed visa and/or an extension of stay. Some schools may still show 200 hours but that will only allow you 6 months of total stay. How long you can stay to study Thai will depend upon on the schools qualifications. Apparently the MOE by increasing the hours to 400 per year has cut in half the 3 years you you could study Thai at the intermediate level. Restrictions may be liable to change in regards to locale and duration. Any retroactive courses affected by updates to legal legislation may not be reimbursed nor compensated. At least I"m making the effort to answer you with first hand information and not misleading you and telling you it's nationwide when I know some schools are still on 3 years, and gave you an actual school detail. It states you can stay for more than one year without leaving the country which is not true now. I see they are using a 360 hour number instead of 400 to get a total stay of one year (I cannot call it a one year ED visa). That might be possible up north.
