Same Same Did not Work Today

Recommended Posts

Aside from your diet of french fries and fried eggs I am pretty sure the words “same same” are seldom used in your presence. You are definitely unique.smile.png

There is a guy I often see wandering around Chiang Rai that I think could well be Boomerangutang. One day I am going to follow him for a day because I am pretty sure that his life is a lot less boring than most :)

After 9 years in this country, you cant speak even a basic level of thai to say that you want another piece of a sample which you take to a shop? Sure, cant get any worse.

They should know more English (The World Language) than their basic ''no hab '' ..Shame on them .Looks like they were too dim also to interpretate some basic sign language .

It's amazing how easy it is to get around in Thailand even for 100% non-Thai speakers.

I know a few of these and some have lived happily here for years, Thai people are usually cheerful, tolerant and friendly and can often drum up an English speaker in emergencies.

Look at the road signs... anything that matters is in English.... try looking for a multi language sign in the UK etc.

They probably had the printer cartridge except the ones they had were full of ink so not really same same at all.

OK, well how do you say 'similar similar' in Thai

The thing is, Thais don’t talk like that, ‘same same or similar similar’. So if you completely mangle the pronunciation of a single word or short phrase they have no context by which to guess what you are on about. That said, your attitude has a lot to do with how well they respond to someone making funny noises and waving their hands in the air.smile.png

Interpretate? No wonder you feel obliged to add some sign language. It's the least you could do. o_O

I spent a year in Chiang Rai and can count on one hand the number of foreigners who could say more than :"alloy mak mak", "you give me sucky sucky" and "Where buy ya-ba?" The first 2 from retirees, and the last from the teachers...

The number of foreigners in Chiang Rai who speak Thai keeps going down, too. We lost two guys recently. One moved out of the country and the other died.
