Gonzo the Face
How on earth does an airliner approaching a gateway, moving about 2 miles an hour skid???? More attention needs to be paid to whoever writes these things to better clarify or stop writing absolute BS. Say what really happened ....... someone did make an error........ either the guy with the flags , guiding the plane in or the pilot or most probably both...... but NO ! ! ! lets don't loose face...... the plane barely moving.... skidded.... what a bunch of crapola.... Stopping 70 tons is not quite the same as stopping your car. Definitely not, but at the speed you would be traveling at approx. 5 metres from full stop and wheels barely turning over, a chock shoved under the wheel would have done it. Bangkok Barry
This doesn't make sense. The airbridge (to call it by it's correct name) is usually kept some distance from the plane until it comes to a stop. We all know the wait while it's then moved into position. So how can the plane hit it, or it hit the plane?
invex
Don't you guys remember the new ordered Airbus A380 hitting a wall at Suvarnabhumi prior his promotion flight to CNX? It landed at CNX without wingtips. The ground crew at BKK stated "wow, that plane was bigger than we thought". TIT
biplanebluey
And how could this happen ? Been around the aircraft industry for over 50 yrs now retired and have never seen an accident like this.I have seen aircraft hit obstacles with their wing tip especially when being marshaled into a hangar, but this one hit a Gangway which was so far in to hit the bloody engine.Cannot understand why the captain did not see it as it would have been only a few metres from his windscreen when he went past it!!!!!!!!!!!!.You know, that clear glass thing over the front where you can see out of !!!!! bangon04
Three things (1) The Jetway or Loading Bridge not parked on the correct spot. (2) Ground Handlers with Cranium up their Tailpipe. (3) Flight Crew did not verify Loading Bridge being on correct spot. Result, Sheet Metal Mechanics make overtime on Field Trip, and passengers miss their flight. And how could this happen ? on a scale of seriousness - would we prefer a) Somchai the airbridge operator not parking the airbridge in the right place Mr Somchai the Ramp manager failing to guide in the approaching aircraft correctly c) Captain Na ExRTAF coming in too fast and misjudging the distance from the airbridge.. answers on a postcard please..... Doc46
Why getting a investigation team in and waste money to find out what happen ? they already know what happen ,,,The plane hit the bloody gangway,,,Pilots fault/can't drive,,,

lvr181
In computer language - it was an Id10t error by the pilot or co-pilot! End of lesson. There maybe a reason BUT NO excuse for this.

Brer Fox
Regardless of what happened it will still be a quick turnaround. Passengers offloaded. New passengers loaded. Same docking person in control and same pilot and after a quick visual check for damage off they go into the blue horizons with fingers crossed. It could only happen in Thailand. I shudder and pray every time I catch a domestic flight.

swerver
I am fairly certain there was no rain at the airport this morning, and at the speeds a plane taxis there is no conceivable way it could just skid. It must have been a pretty serious lack of concentration, perhaps the pilot was playing on his mobile phone at the time ! Now that sounds more like it: Pilot playing with his mobile phone.
