The computer full of pornography of underage boys is a problem, if he was not of this type of person he would not have a computer full of underage porn, that alone would be enough to send him away for a long time in the West.................

is it any wonder many Thais are wary of the farang, he damages the whole of society by his actions.

Mark Fuhrman type policemen wouldn't hesitate to place evidence on your computer. Plenty of innocent guys have been jammed up by zealouse cops.

A. Pedophile is interested only in very young children so the title is misleading.

B. His male lover made a video to blackmail him and probably take his assets if he is somehow connected to his business endeavors. The whole thing smells to high heaven. It is okay to prostitute and blackmail, right?

C. Seems that certain kind of people form a 'hang-them-high' brigade not having all the facts. And since this is LOS I would wait and see how things develop. He has been named and shamed and announced guilty without any verdict. I suppose this is how you folks like it when it hits you too some day?

I see all this as something planned. Since he had his male lover "taking evidence" for blackmail, I wouldn't be surprised to know that same guy tempered with his computer too.

Shame on you people taking the role of the court.

....................."I suppose this is how you folks like it when it hits you too some day?"............................

Whoa !!! Please don't assume that everybody is into paying/not paying young boys/men for sex and it is only a matter of time before "those folks" get busted.

It sounds to me like you are defending this guy with just a little too much gusto.

Going by his past record, I don't think this is a case of him being in the wrong place at the wrong time either. thumbsup.gif

What terrifies me is that his photo and real name is now publicly exposed without any process or maybe even an evidence. That would not happen in civilized country right ?

His life in Chiang Mai is finished even if he is not guilty.

He owns several businesses and is easy to have enemies just because of that. He could be simply a victim of some threat.

I wish him all the worst if he is guilty, but I would wait before I throw stones on him.

... wait a minute. Two boys went to the police, admitting that they are providing illegal sexual services, and all of this just for 500 baht ? Something is missing here ...

Name and shame in Australia and paraded around on the six a clock news for all too see.

There was a really bad Pedophile sent to a Perth prison about 10 years ago, he tampered with the wrong child and as such, he was accidentally released into the exercise yard one day, with the main population and was subsequently stabbed to death within about two minutes of setting foot in the yard

Does that name and shaming in Australia happen before any trial, conviction ans sentencing? Has Australia really descended into trial by media?

The accused's background in this case indicates he has a police record of such offences. He has a male lover, videos the sex act and has a considerable amount of child porn on his computer. Looks as guilty as shit, but until a court rules, he's still only the accused.

Report says he's a businessman and own several businesses in the area. Why would he be such a mean bastard and not pay? And, if he was regularly out on the prowl for boys, how come no one reported him before?

No doubt there is more to this story. Underage sex, rent boys, porn, - what else will crawl out?

What is really worrying is the amount of foreign pedophiles, and other assorted criminals who seem able to get to Thailand and other S E Asian countries and then carry on as they did before.

Ex catholic priest?

Who"d a believed it ?? Another Brit. And I thunked Football was England's National Game!!!!! Silly Me.

The British authorities have a good record of arresting, prosecuting and convicting pedophiles in recent times. As can be seen by many of the cases currently under investigation that go back to the 70's and 80's and include many so called elites, who probably thought they got away with it all.

Many, like the accused and Gary Glitter headed for pastures new where law enforcement isn't so good.

Of course, until all these cases started being pursued and closed, no one new of the extent of this problem. Maybe your country is still one of those living in denial? Many actually believe the problem doesn't exist in their country - but then they're silly, just like you.

No. English simply.

Be careful with sophistry and easy generalizations. You could be also a victim in return.

Would it not be an easy generalisation to suggest that he is English?

Article is pretty clear he is British. Says nothing about his occupation or retirement status. Just another bum off the street.

Granted..British does not clearly mean he is from England..as other countries fall into that realm.

Quote: "The suspect has been identified as Simon Jeremy Merington Briscore, 64. He owns several businesses in Chiang Mai province, where he settled last year."

Why do I smell a rat? I'd say that a 16 year old male Thai very well can defend himself against any attacker, whatever nationality or stature. Now we have two of them against one. Could they simpy say "No!", yes they could! Could they beat the guy up if he'd "attack" or abuse them without their content, perhaps even kill him? You betcha, they could! The fact that they allegedly took a video to blackmail him rounds out the picture, in wich - a piece is missing...

You could be right but the alleged pedo could be a trim 64 year old who goes to the gym and the 16 year olds may be effeminate waifs who mince into his apartment when needed? He sounds like he might have a bit of wealth and may well be being set up and blackmailed but this is only possible because he has flown half way round the world to mess with young boys in the first place? Who knows?

One thing i have noticed over the years, if you are a wealthy farang in Thailand and you let people know it, you can be in real danger from your wife and her family and definitely if you are into ladyboys and young gay guys or whatever. Thailand can be a dangerous place for wealthy farangs.

Says the person making an easy generalization..... Where does it say he's English (simply)?

Hmm, the boys were not upset about having sex with a 64 yo Brit, but went to the police when they weren't paid for the service... TiT after all...

hmmm, are you saying it is OK to have sex with children if the child consents?

16 is not a child, and in the UK where I guess a lot of the "hang him high moralists" come from, what they did is legal, whether you like it it or not.

what kind of evidence is laptop found with some videos ? Is it his laptop 100% ?

Maybe this is what can happen to anyone, if your gik is policeman's girlfriend ? Or as he owns couple of businesses, he is conflict with some hi-rank police officer's business ? List may go on and on ... anything is possible especially in Thailand.

Sorry for laughing CNXBKKMAN, but I just got this image in my mind of the two 16 yo effeminate waifs mincing into the apartment.

I am sure it will go away after a while. biggrin.png

It is always nice to notice how some peoples brains work. I did try to suggest that someone hit with similar way of "justice" - naming, shaming and judging him - before a proper investigation and trial - is not fair neither is it a sign of justice. It is bad practice, simple as that, to jump to conclusions.

I was also not referring just to pedophiles. Any accusations against anyone should be dealt with the right procedure, guilty or not guilty. Otherwise we will have a wild west and no order or justice.

I detest anyone taking the role of the investigator or court if they are not working in such profession. Same applies to pedophiles. But I still want them as accused to have the chance to defend themselves in the court of law. Same applies to any person accused. Let's not pretend to be know-it-all.

1 He's not a pedophile. Pedophiles are people who prey on pre-pubescent children, not young people over the age of consent. 2 He has not been convicted of the alleged offences and should be presumed innocent unless and until he is. 3 Entrapment is commonplace in Thailand and the circumstances in this case, with a third party taking pictures of sex acts involving "victims" who complained not about being assaulted but of not being paid - raise obvious suspicions. 4 Thai Visa posters need to think twice before leaping to ill-informed conclusions and leaping into print with ill-informed comments which could prejudice a fair trial.

Did you not read that he was arressted twice in Britain for child sex abuse.

Let's cut to real issues here and with you:

This is a Child Abuse and you take issue with the Thai system and Thailand.

I have no time for child abusers, and no time for people who defend them whilst masquerading as a Do Gooders.

Therefor I have no qualms in calling you a racisit who will stop at nothing to preserve you perverse ideals.

Read again....underage boys.

They are under the age of consent in Thailand.

The age of consent anywhere else is irrelevant.

Yes it would, most countries around the world regularly release the names of arrested people, unless they happen to be juveniles, or related to the victim (and therefore identification of suspect would result in identification of victim), or coppers whistling.gif
