Photo: Gazette filePHUKET: -- Amid a flurry of concern about the Thai-Cambodian border being closed to 'visa runs' (story here), a high ranking Immigration officer has confirmed that there are no changes to procedures at the popular Phuket visa-run checkpoint in Sadao.“We have yet to receive any special orders to change how we process people needing visa exemptions on arrival or those with visas,” said the official, who declined to be named. “I am not aware of any official orders closing the Cambodian border to those wanting to enter with a visa exemption either.”The official confirmed that officers continued to maintain a strict stance on enforcing current policies following a crackdown last year against foreigners who were abusing the tourist-visa system to illegally work in the country.Full story: http://www.phuketgazette.net/phuket-news/ThaiMalaysia-border-remains-open-visa-runs/61962?desktopversion-- Phuket Gazette 2015-09-16 RELATED: Thai-Cambo border check points closed to visa runners with immediate effect Bomber blame game sees Thailand immigration abruptly change visa rules Thai Immigration launches 'new' crackdown on visa runners Thai visa run crackdown: Latest update from Thai/Cambo border

Tubby
Just waiting for it to filter down. I suspect tomorrow it will be a different story. Times are changing, gone are the days of expats and border hops. Gonna F!"k a lot of people.
GreasyFingers
Going to Wang Pra Jan (I think the correct name) near Satun on Satuday. The visa run company says everything is ok. Will let you know.
GreasyFingers
No problems at Wang Pra Jan near Satun but our small group had visa so cannot comment on visa exempt status. One of the group had a valid visa until 2016 but was 2 days over his admitted until date. He just had to pay the overstay fine and got his 90 days.
