They can only get a 14 day visa exempt entry at airports.

Yeah tried to ask someone at immigration but they didn't know...

So my girlfriend got stuck at the border without anything.

Although I had a flight ticket leaving Thailand on 1.december, papers from the language class, they didnt care. Not even one day to at least let her fly out. Eventually we managed to get a border pass for her for 6 days.

Only problem is that we won't be able to take the already booked flight from Chiang may to yangon now. And a flight from tachilek to yangon is 250$ per person just to fly to yangon.

Any idea if now, that we made it into Thailand, the immigration will be able to give her a visa denial or something to be able to leave from the airport in thailand? Shall I go and just ask for her?

Overstating would have been cheaper...

Edit: I might have found a cheaper flight from tachilek so I will probably just pay 120$ faalang price and 76$ for le gf. So I will not push our luck any further and stick with that option.

No

She can only leave at a border crossing to Myanmar.

The only thing I can think of is for her to return to Myanmar and then enter Laos where she gets a 14 day visa exempt entry. Then go to Vientiane for a tourist visa to return to here. Crossings from Myanmar to Laos are shown here. http://www.immigration.gov.la/checkpoints.html

What would happen if she went to the airport to leave to Yangon?

I would say she would have to pay a big fine as she won't have a visa at all at this point and probably even banned from entering again.

It's quite sad that people from different countries have different chances. She speaks fluently English, Thai, and 3 other languages and has a very western mindset, starting to work on her own online business. so neither she is happy in her country nor me in my country.

I think the only solution is to make more money and get that elite visa.

Anyway just food for thought. I don't want anyone's pity. Sure I went to hell today but at the end It's not too dramatic as there is always a way and now I'm on the way to have everything in order again.

They could detain her and deport her to Myanmar at border crossing.

You could make some enquiries at immigration about it before doing it but I am certain they will tell her to leave at the border crossing she entered at.

You would not get 7 days. You would not be allowed to leave the country at most border crossings.

You can only get 7 days to leave the country by paying 1900 baht for a extension and having it denied at a immigration office.

I did not really understand the meaning of these 2 sentences. I could not leave Myanmar if i would do like this ? And if i get 7 days, how many times in a row would it be possible to do it ?

But finally, I will go to Laos to return by plane a few days later. What will happen if the immigration officer refuses to give me 30 days at the airport (I've got 2 in a row during the last 4 months)?

Thank you for your help

Thai immigration would tell you that you could not re-enter when get to departure immigration. They could refuse to allow to leave Thailand because you could not enter again.

It you get a 30 day extension of your 30 day visa exempt entry you could apply for another extension, pay 1900 baht and be granted 7 days to leave the country. It can only be done one time per entry.

Not a problem at an airport since there is no written limit. But they could question you about what you are doing here then ask to see the equivalent of 10k baht in cash and a ticket out of the country within 30 days.

Need some advice.

I've lived in Thailand under a non-B for years. Left my job in September. Changed visa to a SETV in Vientiane + 2 extensions. I left the country yesterday for Singapore for a job interview - accidentally overstayed my visa in Thailand by 1 day. I'm probably leaving the country for good in January. I now have the option of either flying to KL and trying for another SETV or I can try a Visa exempt entry at BKK airport.

Will they deny me a Visa exempt given that:

1. It's back-to-back with a SETV

2. My address is a Thai address

No to both questions.

Almost certainly not.

A one day overstay shouldn’t have any affect.

Not sure that’s relevant as you have to give the Thai address you’re staying at.

Hi guys, trying to read through the requirements but getting a little lost :)

Looking to be based in Thailand with my partner (she is f, farang, me, m farang). Then do a trip to Cambo and back to Thailand, then a Trip to Myanmar and back to Thailand.

Will I be able to do this with just Visa exemptions? Each time away for about a week and then back for under a month? So 3x visa exemptions, each time flying. Australian passports.

It will not be a problem since you will be doing what tourists do.

This topic is becoming more of a general inquiry topic with a heavy bias towards the possibility of denial of entry and not a thread giving recent reports of border runs which is what it says on the tin.
