imokg2g
Hi all, I recently received two gifts from my in-laws. I'm trying to understand (appreciate) the significance of the gifts (from a religious/Buddhist perspective). Pictures attached. 1. a gold-rimmed amulet with an engraved stone. 2. a stone tile (similar in dimension to a domino) with a bearded-man holding a staff, with script on the reverse. Any further explanation for either item would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. J .
steven100
Nothing significant as in there meaning from what I see. I was given the same by the Police at a charity stand when I donated in the box. There are literally thousands of amulets the same kind in Thailand. A monk with a walking stick, a Buddha. imokg2g
Thanks for your reply - Geez, I hope they're not expecting a 'charitable donation' in return, because they're going to be disappointed. Cheers, J
KMartinHandyman
Your in laws may have the wish/belief that these items will protect you or bring you luck/good fortune. Just an idea? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
curtklay
Thais are not well versed in gift giving. At Christmas time, all you see in the stores are gift baskets filled with that bird nest crap.
