It's not available yet but perhaps it will be in 10 years time.Would you take it (assuming you could afford it, it worked, and it was proven safe)?

It took three years to create the exercise blueprint, and it will be many more before a pill could conceivably be available—“at least a decade,” says Hoffman. But the researchers are “actively working on” that end goal, he says.

An exercise drug could have major benefits for the elderly, as well as people who have obesity, type-2 diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. Though it sounds like a gift to the lazy, such a treatment could transform the lives of many who cannot exercise. “I think we can make major strides in medicine,” says Hoffman.

Maybe a cocktail pill?

Exercise / weight control / Cialis / Sense of Humor

Some people are gonna get VERY rich!

I ENJOY walking but "working out" -- total BORING-VILLE.

I do it because I need to. Not for pleasure. I can think of lots of more pleasurable forms of masochism than working out.

Sure many people would object to such advances ... but I reckon some people thought flush toilets were a bad idea too! Why not do it the natural way? In the woods with the bears?

I would take anything that helps to get my goals, and I have no problem popping a few pills. I have done so in the past but the effects of most stuff is not that much, the more it works the heavier the side effects are. When I was fatter I popped some extreme pills that did help, stopped them because of the side effects.

So don't get your hope up, those pills will only if your lucky help you by 10% (and that is a real lot) but still just a snack a day more to eat .. not a complete meal.

To put it in perspective, T3 (thyroid hormone) that some bodybuilders use (could have bad side effects) only gives a 5% extra burn.

I think a pill based on amphetamines making people eat less would be the way to go (some people can go a day without food on amphetamines), its far harder to get something that burns more calories.

Extra combo should include "remove guilt from giving up" ...

Not needed unless excessively neurotic ... crazy.gif

Let's not under-estimate the power of low self-esteem.

Not everyone has the strenght to own up to "their decision", including the one to give up.

Let's provide them with chemical support for this as well.

Personally, I don't see the problem of drugs that help people to burn more or to curb their appetite. However its easier to curb ones appetite (amphetamines do that real well), burning extra is a much harder problem. I have seen quite a few drugs (clenbuterol 2-5% extra burn), t3 (5% extra burn), ECA( ephedrine caffeine asperine gives a 5% extra burn) the most dangerous if misused (DNP 20-40% extra burn and death if really misused)

But even at 10% its only 200 calories on a day.. not even a full meal to get 10% without side effects would be a major thing. So I would not hold my breath and wait for a pill that allows people to eat loads more and stay lean. The stuff i mentioned is all with side effects and some dangers.. so to get something even more effective and without side effects.. i doubt it.

Curbing appetite.. that can be done better but I bet the foodies would not like that solution.

In real life there are almost always risks and side effects. But a med like this could be a life saver to those who really can't exercise due to medical reasons.

of course there are JT, but the drugs i put there are quite a bit higher risk as what governments would allow on the market. So I would really not get my hopes up that much.

Things that work often get banned because of the side effects (people are stupid exceeding dosage and stuff).

I am certainly not against pills and would welcome a pill like that (exercise pill not really needed unless it helps to burn of extra energy). But my point is that it will probably not have the impact most people are looking for.

I get fat because I eat too much.

I dont eat too much because I'm hungry; I eat too much because it's tasty.

No pill is going to change that, unless maybe they invent a pill that makes all food taste disgusting.

If they did invent such a pill, would I take it? No.
