You’ve heard how cool Myanmar is. You’ve been thinking about checking out Bagan, Mandalay and Inle Lake. Well, you’re right, the time to visit Myanmar is now, and Yangon is where you should start - thanks to the fast-evolving food scene. Stylish restaurants and hip Burmese tea houses are making their mark. Here are the spots you don’t want to miss.

Feed your inner Francophile at Le Petit Comptoir de Rangoon. Simple decor gives this small restaurant a cozy atmosphere. Skip the appetizers, and go straight to the hearty mains like bouillabaisse, beef bourguignon and sea bass with lemon risotto. Le Petit Comptoir de Rangoon can be found at #42 Yaw Min Gyi Street.

Rasa Lasa brings the best of Malaysia’s 'kopitiams' and hawker stalls. Think creamy kaya jam, Singaporean hokkein mee, and crunchy prawn fritters. But food isn’t the only draw; a huge 25 by 25 foot art piece by artist Delphine de Lorme, chalkboard wall and framed vintage pictures of colonial Malaya make this boutique eatery a must. Rasa Lasa can be found at #462 Thein Phyu Road.
