Once PhotoDNA detects an illicit image, we immediately suspend the account responsible, generate a report for us to review, and escalate to the appropriate child protection agency. The tool has amazing accuracy, and it has enabled us to find problematic content faster than ever before. Facebook’s engineering team is constantly tinkering with new improvements to PhotoDNA, and we’re excited to implement it in even more creative and innovative ways over the next few months. Our goal in the longer term is to use this tool widely to help ensure that this offensive material is never uploaded to Facebook. And, because PhotoDNA has been so effective for us, we encourage other sites that allow photo uploads to use it as well. You'd think this type of thing would come up with a LOT of false-positives. Paedophiles did not choose to be so (although success may reinforce the illness). I don't condone it, but these people are unable to form normal adult relationships because many were abused themselves as children, or they have a fetish for children, which has a cause, the same way that people steal underwear from washing lines. It has been proved umpteen times that 1) more abusers prefer little girls, not boys, so we should not equate homosexuality with paedophilia...and 2) most abuse is carried out by fathers, uncles, family friends (normal people to you and me) BECAUSE they are in a position of trust and are able to engage with the children. This happens in Thailand, the USA, UK and everywhere. There are some children as young as 10 or 11 who are early maturers and who are very precocious, also. Castration is cruel, and is little used these days. Certain drugs and psychiatric therapies are more useful. There are no easy answers, although hanging people is not a solution. Eddy has no one ever read Lolita? it's not an excuse, but rather just making the point that sexual identity and preferences exist on a spectrum. this spectrum includes inappropriate activities and ages. Total removal will not stop the molestation. A forced sex change op will just make them angry or something of that sort. They have a mental illness witnessed by the fact that some go for boys and other go for girls, so until some brain surgeon can find the exact point in the brain where the problem lies and then blitzes it to return them to naturally inspired people we are stuck with them, as sad as this may seem to have to accept. Locking them out of harms way may be the answer but then the misguided do Gooders will say no to this because they have a right to a life however jaded it is. So having written this, Do I have a answer, No. It is an open response and hopefully someone out there will have a more intelligent answer to what is really a very bad situation and can look at it with superior understanding and find a solution that will enable all of us as fathers to rest knowing that our children are relatively safe. As somebody else suggested further down, some young kids mature early. Nobody flips a switch at 18th birthday, and sexual relationship without consent (Rape, really) is just as bad after 18 as it is before. I concede that below a certain age consent is shifty and cannot really be established, so that category would come under the topic of pedophilia. I repeat, any sort of pressure exercised to coerce somebody into Sex is bad, coercion which may well come from the victim's economic circumstances and not from the partner. Any sort of sexual preference that dwells on the pain and reluctance of the victim is bad, and that's where the various debilitating measures suggested by other posters should come in. This young girl was pointed out to me by one of the local working girls and I was told that this young girl was a prostitute that brings men to her mothers room since she can not get into any hotel with a man. I was disgusted by the thought of this and the next day I saw the young girl again with another falang walking close behind her. I stood near the police box on the corner of Beach road and Walking Street. I told the attending cop about the little girl and her activities as a prostitute. He looked at her as she and her customer walked passed and then he looked back at me and said "You know, this is Pattaya" and that was the end of that. So does Thailand really give a damn ? Eddy Make excuses and offer medication and therapy is good but illness or not, they can not be cured and there is no reason society should suffer as a result. If they are to be this way for the rest of their life I would do the merciful thing and put them to sleep. However, there are native speakers in each country (among others) that actually have insight into the mechanics and cultural nuance surrounding language, and thus are invaluable to the overall learning process. While there are Brits who could perhaps teach circles around some Americans, the numbers as of yet, aren't overly concerning. Just for sh*ts and giggles, guess which "brand" of English is most often requested by students in the Kingdom? At least the American English is spell it as you say it so I guess it is easier to learn. Never understood how americans can screw up a language so beautifully.
