I always though of it as southern Thailand. Am I incorrect? I would not at all think of it as Southern Thailand, as that brings images of South of Chumporn and Phuket etc... I also do not consider it Eastern as that seems to me to be Isaan... I have always referred to places in that area as Eastern Gulf Shore... Works for me anyway... Been to Koh Chang 2 times and loved it there, Koh Kood is something for the bucket list but I will likely be bored after 2-3 days as already mentioned, I am not a beach person, well I like the beaches but can't lay there all day long. So you are not a beach person :-) How is Kohkood now ? 24 hours water and electricity everywhere ? Any 711 ? And what about Kohmak ? Cheers.

Mooner 1,152 #51 Posted December 13, 2016 Not that many people and even if it is busy the island is big so you dont feel it. Its a bit more expensive than other islands for accomadation so you need to spend over 2000 for something half decent but its a great place. Close this thread so we can try yo keep this place to ourselves

Golden Triangle 2,326 #53 Posted December 14, 2016 I'm taking the Mrs there in Jan 2017 for her big 40 birthday, thanks for the pictures and information, I won't be doing waterfalls and such like as I'm not to steady on the legs these days, but strolls along the beach and some romantic dinners will fit the bill nicely. Thanks.

It was pristine back then. Now its ruined. Digital age made it possible. We should all burn our technology and go to live in the jungle... Must have been good for your health back in 1908, good to see you can still get your head around the internet thingy.???? ( Sorry ). 2006 Kood was really nice, might think about it again. One of the best parts is being away from people when going to an island. It seems like every person has a blog and must share their wisdom with the world. And for what? So people will give you 'likes' What is crazy is that someone people still think in 2017 that anything in this world can be secret ! So crazy ! Stop living in your bubble, there is nothing that you know but that someone else doesn't know !!! But there are many more things that people know but that you will never know.

There aren't many bubbles left these days so maybe not so crazy. I suppose that when it is all concreted over, polluted, with private beach access and discotheques all night, you will think that that is ok. No you didn't say that but you might as well.

You can take a boat from Koh Chang to Koh Kood during high season. See my Koh Chang Trip report The ferry pier on the mainland is at Laem Sok. Don't know about parking there but you could park in Trat and take a songthew from the Trat Bus Station. I stayed at the Good View Resort on Koh Kood for 800, it's up the hill from the public beach and they had in-room WiFi. I usually stay at the Beach Resort where rates are higher but I've seen some very modest beach bungalows renting for 900. Hope this helps. From the city of Trat it is about a 20 min drive to Laem Sok where you catch the ferry to Ko Kut. There they have a secure parking lot. We stayed at the A Na Lay Resort which was nice and right on the water for B1000 a night. Google them for details. Go back to my post #36 to see some pics of the resort.
