Nothing surprises me about Thailand.Thats messed up.You set up A time in advance the limo driver should have been there when your flight arrived .For the kind of money Thai people make you wouldn't think they'd drop the ball.I just get A regular taxi from DonMaung. Not any problems. The key is stay off Bangkok roads during rush hour.If it's raining you'll double your time even more

To your destination.Even BTS during rush hour has gotten bad over the years.

You've got a few choices.

Join the long queue on the ground floor (left hand end facing the road).

You may need to wait up to 20 minutes or more until you get a driver.

He comes to the counter and escorts you and your luggage to his car after it's made clear where you want to go.

I think only registered drivers are allowed to pick up passengers here.

If you're in a big hurry, go the the 2nd floor ( departures) you can often pick up a cab within seconds.

as these drivers have just dropped some passengers off and they are not supposed to wait around.

Unfortunately you take a risk of getting a driver who is not registered.

We had a bad experience getting a taxi from here. Soon after leaving DM we realized the driver was drunk or on drugs.

He became aggressive and argued that the meter fare was not enough and he wanted a lot more.

He was driving very fast and swerving from side to side on the elevated motorway.

I ordered him to stop but he would not listen until I said I would call the police. That got his attention.

He drove off at the next off-ramp where there were 2 other taxis waiting. He got out of his car and went to the other taxi drivers trying to tell them something.

I was worried he would drive off with our luggage in the boot.

I got back in the passengers side and reached over and released the trunk lid, grabbed our bags and went straight to the next taxi driver who thankfully was sober and polite.

So the last time I decided to wait in the queue and found only a few people there - the cab driver welcomed us with a smile.

walk out of the airport to the main road and wave a taxi down.

I usually do that, but last week during the morning rush hour , there was a policeman on duty at the bottom of the stairs to prevent taxi from stopping on the highway.

I went back inside to the taxi line and I was lucky as there was not a long queue.

Coming back from Ubon last Wednesday at 3pm, my wife asked the flight attendant the best way to get a taxi in T2.

Consequently we turned right on arrival, took the lift to floor 3 and grabbed a taxi that had just dropped off at departures.

No issues with the driver, in fact he found us a better way to get back to Bang Bua Thong.

  • 3 weeks later...

Landing DMK midday at 12.30 on a Tuesday, is it easy to catch a taxi around 13H?

Last time ordered a limo service, driver was too late, had to call him and wait some more, not funny.

Considering Uber or similar.

Any advice?

.... Lots of taxis at that time. Did same arrival last week, no problems whatsoever. Limo can stuck in traffic on way to airport,

they don't want arrive early necessarily. Regular taxi 40% cheaper by meter too!

Try the AllThaiTaxi app. Vastly superior to regular taxis and you get a new Prius, a safe, professional driver who is salaried and not making money on driving you around, and they have a very good GPS system in the car so that the driver knows where to go. You pay ten baht more than a regular taxi for flag fall, and then 20 baht as a booking charge. The meter is then at the same rate as a regular taxi.
