This is one thing Thailand gets right at least, illegal- kick 'em out back to where they came from with no human rights or court appeals nonsense with translators and lawyers paid for by the tax payer.

Lets hope Markel will read this to get a plan how to manage the mess in EU zone !!

CHIANG RAI — A popular art temple in Chiang Rai province will start collecting entrance fees from foreign visitors later this year, its owner said.

Beginning in October, foreigners visiting the White Temple will have to pay 50 baht to enter the prayer hall (ubosot) and another 50 baht for the art hall, said Chalermchai Kositpipat, the Silpathorn Award-winning artist who designed and owns the temple.

In the video posted to his official fan page, Chalermchai said he initially wanted to keep the attraction free but fears he can no longer afford its maintenance.

“I have to pay 4.5 million baht to 6 million baht every month!” Chalermchai sai

Yes they are shot and killed. Most, if not all bodies, cremated and ashes thrown to the wind. Then the eternal suffering by their families who will never know what happened to them. I have spent time in Poipet and have seen nearly 200 cambodians crammed in a police van like sardines. Men, women and children enduring this horrendous treatment. Then beaten by cambodian police as they exit the police van and milked for tip money because they are an inconvinence to the cambodian police. Desperate people wanting something they can call close to a decent life. Its the Thais who smuggle them in with the help of Thai people who have the power, money and influence to do so.

And one other thing that chaps my ass in this forum is all the adopted foreigners who think they have become Thai because they married to one or got their dicks in one and think they are Thai now. (I guess through the process of osmosis) These are they who have shit canned their own countries and nationality thinking Thailand loves and needs you. Let me be clear. All Thais love Thailand FIRST. YOU are an afterthought and as long as you go along with the program you will stay with your wives and bargirls. Those who dont suck ass, in regards to pro thai issues, inevitablely experience their swift fall from grace. Broken and pennyless with nothing to return to you will be contemplating or jumping from a building or trying to stop a bullet with you head. DON'T GET IT TWISTED...

OUCH! ..... The economic elite are losing their cheap labour.

Consider the idea that may be part of the whole process. Cheap illegal labour. Whereas if legal migrant workers who were paid legitimate wages they would be better off.

Many ignore the reality of what Thailand is and has to do to legitimize itself internationally now.

Few realize/acknowledge that Thailand has the second biggest economy in SEA .. It is a magnet for migrant workers from all surrounds.

Over decades Thais have been made lazy in reputation. A reality is that illegal workers taken on cheap preference have sidelined them and after decades are resigned to it while being subsidized to remain so with popularist support policies .

A new era is being implemented.Corporate corruption taking advantage of is being eliminated.

Migrant workers can return..legitimately...If Corporates need workers the the selection of Thai versus migrant has the potential to eleviate the outflow of Thai reserves which can be directed into faster development of infrastructure.

Criminal migrants who risk death for stealing from Thailand know the risk .

While the majority of the world retains Nationality the protection of that Nation is the function of governance.

Humanatarian concerns therefore.are in conflict with Nation .

Humanitarian concepts are promoted at the same time asserting National individuality creates humanitarian issues .

Solution?

A bit off topic but you certainly are correct about the illegal laborers to Thailand. In the last couple years I have been astonished by the number of waitstaff in bars & restaurants to whom I speak Thai to order who have no clue - they're Filipinos. Now maybe these folks have valid work permits but it certainly sums up the Philippine economy when (and maybe 'if') they are are paid ฿300/day and that makes a journey to Thailand make economic sense to them. In that same vein, who can blame a Laotian, Cambodian or Burmese from coming to Thailand to enjoy its 'high' rates of pay.

Yep that is a joke, can't even speak Thai to waitstaff in Thailand.....people complain all the time in the West about people not being able to speak English etc..........

No...im not that foolish enough to get burnt. I've been coming to this country since early teens. I come here for peace of mind and I don't want to waste money trying to own what is illegal to own nor do i trust my finances to any woman who had no hand in acquiring said finances. Stress free and carefree is the way I like it. I don't have to worry about visas. Those who have money can stay here effortlessly.

I suppose it's fairly easy for the authorities to round up and deport the Cambodians. What I would like to know is why I never hear about the prosecution of those employing unregistered aliens.

A man from the next village to mine owns a mini bus (Toyota people carrier). He used to to do a school bus run, taking the local high school kids (including my daughter) to their classes.

About 6 months ago during the school holidays he decided to supplement his income by transporting some Cambodian border jumpers (the border is like a Swiss cheese near here) into Bangkok where no doubt they would be employed on building sites.

En route he was stopped by the Police. He was arrested for transporting illegal aliens and got 12 months. No doubt those he was transporting were deported.

I'll bet that no effort was made to apprehend anyone who organised the whole thing, nor any effort made to ascertain who was going to employ the illegals. The arrest and conviction of a 'minnow' will suffice.
