It's look like to be a "French paper" citizen.

A large number of foreign french origin come to Phuket for party and way of life. But they come with their traditionnal violence and provocative behavior

Wow.

You are right. I am walking. You hit me on your motorbike. I die.

Clearly, Thai understands you can harm tourist free.

The tourist go home and do not follow the trial.

Hence, 2 years prison for murder and assault & battery.

I suggest, every Embassy takes on the Thai government trial on behalf of the victim's.

The problem with the headline is, Thai murders French tourist.

Whereas, Brawl requires 2 unprovoked actions.

Clearly, we, you will never get equal protection.

I suggest all embassy to either protect their citizens or mark Thailand as a NO GO COUNTRY.

EQUALITY, Legal fairness is one sided.

I love Thailand. I wish I was Thai.... But the hard fact is... Thai protect Thai...

This means, Hit Thailand where it hurts....Do nothey come.

When does all these stops? The only way perhaps is making thais get the same treatment around the globe only then maybe, just maybe they will learn and behave and control their ill temper and not just go on killing people.

There are amny good Thai people, actually mostly are good but because of certain percentages the entire nation is earning bad name.

Patong is a lawless shithole. A tuk tuk driver cut me up last week and aggressively forced his vehicle into my path as he overtook every vehicle on the outside lane. His damn ugly wife leaned out the passenger window yelling and hammering on my driver door and window to I let them him. The place is full of scum.

...get mowed down by a local......

...if you complain.....get stabbed to death......

....good in...bad out.....that would be quite a depopulation exercise....but mind you it might work.....

As usual the Thai bashing Brigade have it all figured out with the absolute minimal of details and zero first hand knowledge...

Yes it was a scandalous waste of a human life and a tragedy for his family and friends, but is Thailand the only place on this earth where this can happen?

Rather than making even more unsubstantiated claims and spouting ridiculous and myopic opinions, I shall simply say commiserations and condolences to his family and friends, and a speedy recovery for the other person injured...

A lawless, so called Buddhist country!

your sir a fool......... Catholics rape and murder people, what has a religion go to do with a crazy person killing someone.. People like you make me sick !!

Why because he stated that Thailand is akin to the old Wild West? It is. Yes people of other religions also kill but the difference is the law is the same for everyone. In Thailand there are several versions of the law depending upon who you are. Foreigners come way down at the bottom of the list

A lawless, so called Buddhist country!

Being a Buddhist myself since 2005, it is obvious that Buddhism here is so so twisted and distorted, it's so far removed from what it is essentially. Here it is mostly revolved around luck, fortune and greed, which is sad

Looks like a "took three to tango" incident to me. Would be great to know how often the F-word was used until the Thai finally decided to knife his victim. Killing someone over an incident like this (each party involved should have been happy to just be alive) is outrageous as well of course. A sick planet it is...

Intentionally riding a motorcycle into a person would almost certainly result in injury for the rider as well as the pedestrian. Bike riders hate the thought of a dog running in front of them because it will almost certainly result in a fall and injury.

Why would he intentionally ride into a person?

Now, what happens next is not acceptable...... the French guy is killed as a result of an altercation, over what may seem a minor traffic Iincident. Perhaps the rider suffered injury, and the French guy wandered off? We may never know the facts.

My guess is the pedestrian had a skinfull, and in that condition, better to not be crossing roads in the early hours.

People behave irrationally, even stupidly, when on vacation, and on the booze.

As a French citizen I know exactly how misbehaved, brainless, provocative, aggressive, obnoxious and even violent these young guys coming from the popular suburbs, many of them of migrant origins, can be.

They seem to be a significant part of my fellow citizens visiting Thailand now. I've seen them in action in Pattaya on occasions and I'm ashamed.

BUT... and that's a big BUT, anything they've done or said cannot justify being stabbed on the street like this. Yes, that's a risk here. Thais tend to use their knives or guns as a last resort during a heated arguments. I've been threatened once with a machete over such a heated argument with someone who had parked behind my car, blocking it.

They probably didn't know this and whatever they've risked doing or saying does not excuse anything. Yes, some low-life Thais don't value the life or a anyone else, even less a farang. That's a sad fact and such drama will bring extreme damage to the image of Thailand.

A lawless, so called Buddhist country!

Why you make a post like this?Behave yourself!!!

It is nice country and nobody should accuse all people and country for single accident!!!

I am ashamed how some foreigners behave here!!!

If you look at the numbers and what happened in the past five years or so in Thailand, the amount of foreigners killed by Thais for minor reasons, including refusing to pay the taxi fee (chopped to death by Thai taxi driver with machete), refusing to get off stage (foreigner killed on his birthday in front of his son by band members), looking too sexy or having sex on the beach (head smashed in, raped and partner stabbed and drowned, preparing Burmese patsies to take the fall), etc. and the many murder cases that were hushed down and branded suicides (especially on that garbage dump called Koh Tao), the countless murders in Pattaya, etc. - I am ashamed of how the Thais behave here, dear Vukovar!

To clockman should be said that Thailand is as far away from being a true Buddhist country as a buffalo would be from playing the piano. Look at the amount of mosques we have here and the steady increase of Muslim influence, especially in the southern half... This is not a Buddhist country anymore, and the unbelievable amount of rotten apples acting as "monks" in the Buddhist monasteries all over the country will make sure that in a few decades from now, the respect of Thais towards Buddhism will have reached an all time low, similar to the low Christianity faces in Europe right now.

It's all over, folks! Time to remove the pink sunglasses and face reality!
