BANGKOK, 1 April 2016 (NNT) - The Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Policy Committee is set to propose to the Cabinet the construction of the Blue Line railway services next month.

Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak said during the PPP Policy Committee meeting that the Cabinet has already approved the Pink and Yellow Lines. The Pink and Yellow Lines will be constructed under the PPP agreement. The Pink Line stretches from Khae Rai Intersection to Minburi district, and the Yellow Line from Ladprao Road to Samrong district of Samut Prakan province.

Dr Somkid added that the Blue Line will consist of two branches. The construction of the first branch goes from Hua Lamphong Train Station to Bang Khae district and the second branch from Bang Sue district to Tha Phra Intersection. The Cabinet is expected to approve the Blue Line extensions some time between April and May.

The PPP Policy Committee is also deliberating the construction of two motorways. The first motorway would run between Bang Pa-in district of Ayutthaya province and Nakhon Ratchasrima province, while the second would run between Bang Yai district to Kanchanaburi province.

I hope they hurry up, the Blue Line extensions are nearly complete. At least the civil structures are, I assume they will actually be mulling who to employ to operate the railway.

Choices being BTSC operators of the Skytrain, BEM (previously known as BMCL) who operate the existing Blue Line, SRTET who operate the Airport Express and KT who run the BRT and the BTS extensions.
