Yes, in big cities in the U.S. anyway, it's very foodie trendy to "discover" the amazing DIVERSITY of Chinese foods from the many different PROVINCES. "Sophisticates" don't say let's go for Chinese, but lets go for HUNANESE, etc. In Thailand, not so much. Pretty grim Chinese food scene in Pattaya. Better in Bangok but difficult accessibility with language (unless you speak "Chinese").
