Perhaps you could stalk hang around in their restaurant, which serves the guesthouse as well, and hope for young female travellers as opposed to aging Korean lotharios.

Yeah, there's a problem with Korean kids becoming addicted to the Internet. However, from what I understand, that's far more a problem with the boys, especially with the games.

The girls seem more fascinated with texting their girlfriends on their mobile phones every five minutes.

I can understand if somebody has lived in Dayton, OH a whole life but these Western expats who stay in Asia for years and cannot in general tell different nationalities apart in general to me, boggles the mind, I just do not get it.

There definitely is a Korean/Japanese/Chinese "look". There are variations of course on this theme. We've got one Japanese friend, I don't think she looks Thai but the Thais do, speak Thai to her and she has even been denied entry to her own BKK hotel when a guard thought she was a "slapper"! If one sees more than one Korean in town they will be speaking Korean, it has a certain distinct sound does it not? I don't speak Farsi but I know what it sounds like. I'm not saying I can tell one obscure dialect from another but one should be able to tell Cantonese from Mandarin from Chinese and Korean and other major languages of the world by sound only.

So of I see somebody speaking Korean, looking Korean, holding a LOTTE DUTY FREE shopping bag or something with Hangul on it its pretty clear.

There are other clues, like fashions, and demeanors. About 8 years ago almost EVERY Japanese girl in her twenties had a cute "mashu" haircut died some shade of brown. Koreans mostly had black hair, and some fashionable Korean girls were still wearing those horrid ankle length stockings one only sees on Grandmas! And the tight perms middle age Korean women sport, they are considered comical in Japan. Can tell them a mile away.

Are people really this gormless or do they just not pay attention? One guy with 10 years experience working in a multicultural environment in Asia with many nationalities as colleagues admitted to me he is clueless. Languages, it all sounds like "ching chong noise" (his words). "Akiko Hashimoto or Ji-Young Lee" has no significance and the reason he can tell Philippinas from Thais is "they speak English". Can't tell a Korean newspaper from a Japanese one. This is very surprising to me as it seems so obvious.

Here is an example sentence “This is a Dutch dictionary” in Japanese, I thought this sentence up as it has hiragana , katakana, and kanji. Cant vouch for Google translate but followed by Chinese and Korean これはオランダ語辞典です 这是一个荷兰语字典 이것은 네덜란드어 사전 입니다

These scripts have a distinct appearance. As for the rest of the crass generalizations on this thread most exists only in the minds of those who have brought their Eurocentrism and subtle bigotry with them from abroad and have learned nothing from years pontificating from a Chiang Mai barstool. I know plenty of Westerners with proper Korean brides, (Only one for sure picked up from a bar near some US base. Now a housewife in the states where most military wives her age have tattoos also ).

If you're more than 5 years older than the average Payap student, I'd say creepy. Why not just go to Korea if you want to meet Korean women? Korean Air has great non-stop flights, you know.

Really? How many guys do you see in CM that have girlfriends/wives that are way more than five years younger than the guy? In your condo, many of the men have Thai boyfriends (or rentals) that are 20-30 years younger than they are. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.)

Understand about flying to Korea if you want to meet Korean women and tend to agree.

That first part, though, ignores a lot of what's reality in Thailand.

What's creepy is for an older guy to be hanging around a college campus trying to meet younger women.

I didn't say that it's creepy for there to be a large age difference between partners. There is more than a five year age difference between Hubby and me, incidentally.

So, let me get this straight; an older guy hanging around a college campus to meet younger girls is creepy, but older guys hanging around bars, hospitals, shopping malls, coffee shops, etc., to meet younger girls is not? Is that what youre saying?

Is this what guys do? Sit around places hoping women will drop into their laps? Especially places where they have no business like, say a hospital?

What about the idea of having an interesting life, engaging in hobbies and interesting activities and thereby meeting people of all sexes as a normal part of that activity? Maybe giving something back, making the world a better place, getting in shape, learning a new skill, etc, etc.

Instead you just sit around hoping that a young woman drops from the sky into your lap? THAT'S a creepy waste of a life.

Have to agree with this...why would you need to be that desperate to hang around or stalk areas for young woman or even girls...get a life and get on with it and the female company with fall into place... Mind you some guys must have a woman to take care of them and I understand that but I'm not one of them..sure so much prefer to be in a relationship, be it Thai ,Korean or Falang or whoever but have a life to lead meantime and it will happen when least expected to . Women aren't stupid and will see the desperate stamp on your head !!! Also be happy with your own company also...then the relationship will follow...my two,penny's worth!..have to go as Uni is starting and don't want to miss anything !!!! ??????

Not as creepy as a woman with an elastic wasteband on her pants, as well as her granny panties, who you can keep track of time by how many cigarettes she smokes. Exactly one every ten minutes. I don't think anyone who has ever stepped foot in a Catholic Church should be making rules on proper age differences between a consenting man and woman. Koreans can even come to a homogeneous society like Thailand and open their own churches, but the best westerners can do is come for local girls and have sex. There is no sense of community amongst westerners here. Is this perhaps an extension of what's going on in our home countries, where any sense of solidarity amongst white people is considered "racist"? Me thinks so.

I think many westerners are here so they don't have to be part of a community. Some western societies are not community driven so much nowadays so its not so ingrained.

Also, people change. When I lived in Bangkok a decade or so ago, it was full-on as I was part of the Bangkok rugby community and didn't have a family. Now, things have changed and I have a family and a small group of younger Thai people who work for me, and I sometimes socialise with, but otherwise it's just me, the missus and my son and I'm quite happy to not be part of any wider community.

Koreans have their own churches in Thailand because they like their christian services in their own language and done in the same style as it is done in Korea. I see Korean churches not just here but also in many other countries where there are large Korean populations including America. So it is more about practicing their form of Christianity in their own language and using the customs they are comfortable with.

Firstly i agree. Then it brings up the question - North or South Korean girls? Many would say it's the latter, right? Then why the striking difference? They live in the same peninsula.
The S.Koreans are obsessed about aesthetics. If you dont look good you lose out. Parents want their daughters beautiful enough to hitch a rich husband, want their sons handsome enough to pass job interviews. Here's the supporting fact - S.Korea has the most surgical makeover per capital in the world, and the figure is almost twice of USA.
