webfact Posted April 27, 2016 Share Posted April 27, 2016 Myanmar govt ministers prohibited from appointing relatives as personal assistantsNAYPYITAW: -- Union level government ministers have been barred from appointing close relatives as personal assistants, according to the President’s Office's statement released on Monday, The Irrawaddy reported. The statement said the guidelines for government officials also applicable to all regional governments have been distributed to the relevant offices.The document was signed by Aung San Suu Kyi, who is the minister of the President’s Office, on April 1.“Members of the union government are restricted from appointing their wife, husband or close relatives as personal assistants in government offices and organizations,” the guidelines read.According to the statement, close relatives include one’s siblings, children, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
