NAKHON SI THAMMARAT:-- Police have a warrant and expect an arrest soon in the shooting deaths of a man and his two year old son, shot as they drove along near a railway line in Nakorn Sri Thammarat, the southern province so often in the news for murder cases.

Deemed incredibly lucky to escape was the wife and their daughter who were also in the car and who played dead after the shooting thought to be over a disagreement with relatives concerning the running of a restaurant, reports Thairath.

Now police have put an armed guard on the hospital where the wife is recovering amid fears that their prime witness could be silenced.

Suthep Rotsuk, 29, and his two year son died in a hail of bullets but his wife and daughter survived the attack in the downtown area of the southern Thai town.

Police said that all witness statements have been prepared and an arrest warrant is out after their star witness was able to give striking evidence about those responsible.

The shooting follows a feud over the running of a restaurant where the deceased man worked until two days before his death.

Police have raided a house in the Phromkhiri area of the province but missed the chance to arrest a suspect after he had fled before they arrived.

But they expect arrests imminently.

When Face and cultural norms prevent a proper exchange of views/opinions/ideas then disputes can be settled like this. Not so different from using guns to enforce the takeover of the country because the National power structure is not up for reasoned discussion/change.

The one with the best aim and the most bullets has the last word.
