Jonathan Fairfield
Three Good Samaritans arrested after robbing Swedish woman in Hua Hin Image: Daily News HUA HIN:-- Police have arrested three men who robbed a Swedish tourist shortly after she was injured after falling from her motorcycle. The three men first posed as Good Samaritans and the woman, identified as Vanja Agren, 45, thought they had come to help her after she was involved in a motorcycle accident early on Wednesday morning, reports Daily News. However, after initially coming to the aid of the injured woman, who bought the men some cigarettes to show her gratitude, the men then proceeded to steal her iPhone and 7,000 Baht in cash. On Saturday morning, officers paraded Kamphol Matachawong, 23, and Suthep Petthkun 24, along with another name identified only as Kuhabeu, 22, to media outside Hua Hin police station. Police chief Maj Gen Kristana Jaemsawang told reporters that the incident was captured on CCTV and this lead to the arrest of the men. Police revealed how the trio had been drinking together the night before and decided to ride around Hua Hin on motorcycle at 5am on Wednesday morning. They then came across the injured woman on Soi Charoen Pattana, close to Soi 94. One of the suspects reportedly told officers that they had helped the woman. But when they saw she had an iPhone and several thousand baht in cash they decided to snatch the woman’s hand bag and iPhone and make off on their motorcycle. Kamphol who was said to be the main instigator of the robbery, was arrested on Pranburi beach the following day while he was taking tourists for a ride on his horse. The other suspects were arrested in Phetchaburi. Ms Agren told police how she thought the men had come to help her. She added that if they said to her they needed some money she probably would have given it to them. She said the last thing she thought they would do was rob her. Police added that they were able to return the iPhone to Ms Agren but that the suspects had already spent all of the cash. This incident comes less than a month after footage of an elderly British couple and their adult son being brutally assaulted by a gang Thai men shocked the world. KMartinHandyman
Such nice people they first helped her up. No Thai would ever rob someone when they're down on their motorbike. Points for good etiquette [emoji1319][emoji1319]

South
Anyone out at 5am falling from there motocy probably deserves all that comes to them. Not all, but most.
AlexRich
Anyone out at 5am falling from there motocy probably deserves all that comes to them. Not all, but most. Most (but not all) people out at 5am in Hua Hin deserve all that comes to them? How do you differentiate between those that deserve it and those that do not? Credo
Anyone out at 5am falling from there motocy probably deserves all that comes to them. Not all, but most. Thailand is a hot country and some may not have noticed, but the day begins pretty early for some people. 5:00 a.m. is not an unusually early time to be getting up and getting ready for the day. ScotBkk
This story would bring a tear to a glass eye. This is a despicable crime to steal from someone who needs help. What is really going on here? Is it poverty - drugs - wickedness. Something is dramatically wrong with the mindset of these scum. The Government needs to start some deterrent that works like they have in America - 3 strikes and out. That would sort out a lot of this shit for evil crimes. Just saying ......... Thian
This story is similar to the Swedish lady who gave first aid to just killed westerners in Phuket who were laying on the street. While she was doing so her purse got robbed. It happened a few months ago.

ezzra
Some people think that if you're on the street at the wee hours of the morning than you're stupid and deserves what coming to you, that would be correct if this was Juárez, Mexico or Caracas Venezuela, but this is HH and this is Thailand, a country that welcome over 40 millions of tourists every year and a person can and should be able to roam the streets with out fears of being mugged or robbed in his own home..... Reigntax
But this is Thailand and no opportunity to rip off a tourist is considered out of bounds. They are just following what they have been taught. Pretend you care and take what you can.

jerojero
Shouldn't be described as Good Samaritans regardless. Headline should be Scum A-holes pretend to help lady in distress, but rob her instead.

KimSamui
Too many young Thai's along the beachfront of Paknampran to Khao Kalok Drunk, Racing motor bikes, and staging loud parties all night. It is not such a good place when you can walk around safely.
jlwilliamsjr18
In our current state of affairs (call me paranoid, I don't care), the tone and message is foreigners are meddlers (maybe some are) and that can lead to an open season on expats for thugs and simple minded gangsters. The message from above needs to change.

Its easy to play the blame game with foreigners and distract the general population with the true causes of Thailand's ever-increasing failures. LawrenceN
"Police added that they were able to return the iPhone to Ms Agren but that the suspects had already spent all of the cash." So what?! Let them borrow or work it off or starve themselves until they pay her back. She shouldn't have to pay for their drinking and whoring.

IamNoone88
Some years a go, a Thai member of staff had a serious motorbike accident in Bangkok. He was lying in the side of the road badly injured (he needed 130 odd stitches plus other injuries) a good Thai samaritan was the first to stop and offer some "help". He did this by relieving the poor guy of his wallet and watch and then left. The second person to stop stole his new sneakers and left him. Finally the charity arrived and took him to hospital. Not much has changed.

sanukjim
A prime example of the average young Thai man/boy in most areas of Thailand. They see themselfs as a miniature version of the government thay have observed all their lives. The government along with the privileged takes advantage of others to enhance their position and bank account. So" if they do it then that must be the way life is supposed to be and we should do it also".
