I bought a bag of yerba mate about 5 years ago but can't remember if it was in the Gulf area or in Thailand. If it was in Thailand it must've come from the exotic teas section of Foodland on Suk Soi 5. A suggestion...as a substitute for mate try gen mai cha; japanese green tea with toasted rice..has an aroma and comforting feel like mate...useta be available at Foodland... do you have your gourd and bombillo handy?
