Looks like a bit of permaculture going on there Mr. Kie. Looks good. We diversified last year from rubber and added a commercial broiler farm. ROI is impressive, there are risks and we are only one year in but, touch wood.........we also got those leaping fish ????

yes we want to diversify things we grow to minimise the risk especially low price in some growing season.

any corp with price below 20 THB/kg we won't grow for selling. we will grow only crop that has good price or above 50 THB/kg. trying to add more nutrient to the land at low cost as possible while trying to sell at high price/kg as possible.

Wife and I have 8 Rai 10 kilometers north of Ubon grow three kinds of Rice (Wild/Jasmine/Sweet) with a sort of fruit trees, one fish pond with Tilapia and eight hens that provide fresh eggs for not only us but for our family. Next project this year is a couple of Bee Hives for honey and to help the pollination of agricultural crops in the local area. Thanks for your post since I am always looking for the next project-”Good Luck!”

Hi Dan!

Just out of curiosity, have you gotten those bee hives and if so, where did you get them?

Got side tracked with a Death in the family back in the U.S., So I am still looking at Free Flow Bee hives of which I believe no one has an interest . You can also contact Raitong Organic Farm near Sisaket. They are currently building lots of hives for native stingless bees. Prime purpose I believe is pollination of their farm.

Look them up on Facebook. One of the owners is a Suff Arf Rick Can. Good Luck.

Hi Mr. Kie,

thanks for your update. your story inspired us to start a similar chicken-barn project. Recently got the first 50 layers at 18 weeks old. The eggs start coming now. although small and low count, it is just 3 weeks after their arrival. Got a barn of around 44m2 and are working now on an adjacent meadow of 300m2 for free-ranging. Also planning on using the chicken-poop to fertilize our land and get the chicken-food from this.

A slight difference in the setup is, that we cover the ground in the barn with hay (grasses cut from our own land) and going to exchange it, probably every week (as soon as the layers are increase to 200) as a poop collection system. This then will be aged for a couple of months.

Tried to get r.i.r. chickens but all that was available, as far as I could find, where hybrids.

Please continue with your updates. Thanks very much for all of this.

Since Feb 2016 we started this farm, everything still going well, more than that we got a lot of tree and now it become like permaculture, more stuffs on our land but less works required and less energy needed. every tree growing on its own and we just make sure that the eco system is balancing. we learned how to be self sufficient, learned to save money and care about money and now we become independent from money or on the other world we are now able to control money.

we know the fruit we eat is so delicious and good for health. we don't need to sell it just for small amount of money. it is better to keep it for ourselves. it is the same as egg or chickens we don't need to sell it if we want to.

This is simple thing i learned " as long as your expenses is lower than your earning, you will become richer and richer and rich forever" and i'm now at the beginning of this stage already

when you don't worry about your health, don't worry about your money and you have a lot good friends around you, i think you already become successful with a lot of happiness and that's it i think life is all about.  ^^__^^
