Cutlery is all wrong!  If it's still frozen you might need a clever instead of the knife and dentures similar to "Jaws" in one of the James Bond movies!

where's the beef?

I agree on the assumption that it is bitter melon (gourd). The Thais have a number dishes which use pork which are OK but rather bland but never had it with tofu. Never thought about it as a pairing but maybe it works. Ever had it Naam?

never had melon soup but surprisingly liked a pumpkin soup which i had (unkowingly) some months ago in Singapore. wouldn't touch any dish that contains tofu. tried it only once.

Australian friend makes a great pumpkin soup but anyway. I've always considered tofu as something than CAN be eaten but there is no other reason to do so.

555 but no problem ingesting decaying animal flesh and bodily fluids! Which CAN also be eaten, but...YUCK...and no sane, nor humane reason to do so.

some of us are not humans  but nature designed humans to eat flesh. otherwise humans wouldn't have canine teeth.

no hard feelings please1 i am punished enough with a wife who morphed during our 38 years of marriage from a steak lover to a 95% vegetarian. i don't want to mention what kind of extremely yuckish food she ingests. surprisingly wife and our cook are able to prepare quite acceptable dishes for me which only need my artistic capabilities to add some final touches converting them into early medieval poetry... sort of... kinda...

Here is a nice sandwich. You use cheap ingredients for this.

iceberg lettuce.

frozen chicken that is breaded

and i don't use it a lot but put the plastic kraft cheese on it.

other than that bread and mayo.

A bit trashy but good for the bang.

Serve it with a side of potato salad  and a dill pickle.

No hard feelings at all, but while the "Thai Visa Poster Of The Year" was kind enough to point out one obvious similarly...it seems the TV POTY intentionally or unwittingly left out many other characteristics that humans do not share with carnivores. For example...

(and BTW...nearly all animals have canine teeth regardless of diet. The hippopotamus is strictly an herbivore and has the largest canines of all. Camels have large canines too, as do other herbivores)

1. Carnivores have sharp molars/humans and herbivores are flat
2. Carnivores have claws and paws/humans and herbivores hands or hooves
3. Carnivores have large oral cavities/humans small
4. Carnivores have short digestive tracts/humans and herbivores long
5. Carnivores pant to cool the body/humans and herbivores sweat
6. Carnivores lap liquids/humans and herbivores sip
7. Carnivores produce their own vitamin C/humans and herbivores get it from their diet
8. Carnivores don't chew much and saliva doesn't have digestive enzymes/humans and herbivores chew and saliva does have digestive enzymes
9. Carnivores are quick and cunning and kill with claws and teeth/humans are not and don't
10. Carnivores kill then eat raw meat/most humans buy pretty packages of pre-killed meat and usually cook it

Just sayin'...:coffee1:

Interesting article for all...NOT just for vegetarians:

I only made that post to sort of show it doesn't have to be gourmet stuff to post it here. anything we are making in Thailand is good to post. Even rice and beans :)

rice and beans?...hmmm, yahs, I remember the old days in central america and 'gallo pinto': take any kinda beans, wash and cook them and set aside...then with oil saute washed, uncooked rice together with onions and garlic until translucent then add enough water to cook the rice...when done mix with the cooked beans and then eat with whatever's handy; tortillas, fingers, etc...

a simple, wholesome dish from locally available ingredients...which suits me as I'm a simple, wholesome kinda guy...
