Agree. Even if the father was wealthy, why would he just give her 80K a month to sit on her ass? Why wouldn't she be helping her mother in the family business? His whole story doesn't make sense. More likely, she's spent all these years in the "business" and is being sponsored by one or more foreigners. Has the OP met her parents or her friends? What sort of work do the friends do? I am aware, though, that not all Thai women are available for hire - and that some Thai families are extremely wealthy. One thing about this story doesn't make sense to me. A youngish Thai woman that depends on her parents money would not live in a rented Bangkok condo alone. She would live with her parents unless she is studying in another city/country. A certain lifestyle and no visible income to support it. I think many are doing it on credit. Some neighbors of mine regularly put the rent and pickup truck payments on credit card. I thought Aeon was the Thai word for paying a bill, only found out recently it's a credit company. OP will probably find the dad story is rubbish and uncover a huge credit card debt. My main question is based on whether its possible for someone in the Thai military to make 180k+ a month (and if it is, should I be afraid of someone who is pulling in that. As it was said before, her daddy is most probably not a daddy at all. Thai women will never spend their own money on a man unless it comes to them from other man easily. The fact that she lives in a luxury condo doesn't say anything about her own financial situation, ask her to show you the water/electricity bill (let's say you are just curious and want to compare the prices) and you will see the name that condo registered on. Those "teen girls" are simply jumping from one bed to another in those 5 different condos with 5 different daddies, he he. As it was mentioned above, thai girls (especially teenagers) will never be allowed to live in different condo unless it's about other country, if it is truly rich and respectable family. If the teen is a "brand - slut" and with all the money her parents have she still stays a cheap whore (which 99% of them are) then it is a different story. No way a wealthy Thai guy is going to let his daughter hang with a deadbeat farang, let alone pay her to sponsor him. It's beyond the realm of reason. If she's working and has her own money, perhaps...although Thai girls hate spending their own money on a guy. The only logical conclusion is she's spending someone else's money, i.e., a sponsor. I can believe that her father would give her money each month. My one Thai friend his parents are very very well off. Own houses in Chang Mai, Bangkok, Singapore and in the USA. He dosn't work and his parents bought him a condo in BKK and a house in Chang Mai a few cars and get 200K a month. He travels around Asia going to Casinos. That should give you some idea how they actually live and if they can afford to give her 80,000 Baht a month. But not many parents I know, rich or poor, what their daughters sitting around and doing nothing, so it does sound fishy. A Rich Boyfriend? Perhaps! She seems well traveled and if her parents couldn't afford to send her places someone else did. But if she has a boyfriend she would try to hide that, which she appears not to be doing. So a present boyfriend seems unlikely. But at age 28 she could also have been married to someone who was well to do, and perhaps now is divorced. I met a Thai Woman in her early 30's who was on her third marriage. She to is well traveled in Europe and lives in the USA. She owns 5 houses and rents them out and last I heard she has gotten her new husband (of 6 months) to build a 10 Million Baht place for them in Thailand, on her fathers land, even though they still live in the states. Go Figure? I dated a girl who went abroad and got married to a guy twice her age shortly after she graduated university. Said all his friends had mail-order brides too. Managed one one his businesses and travelled all over the place. Somehow she was able to take enough money from the guy to buy a house in Thailand and never had to work again if she didnt want to. All this before she was 28. So yeah, it's possible. OP, I wouldnt worry about it too much. Sounds like shes pretty immature so youll probably get sick of her before you find out the truth.
