CHA AM: -- The National Police Bureau has called for quick results in the death of the Swedish man in Cha-Am on Monday.

The former policeman and owner of a local kennels, Lars Donald Qvarfordt was shot in an execution style killing at his house, reported Thairath.

Spokesman Krissana Patanacharoen said that the commissioner of police wants to see those responsible arrested quickly as it represents an important case.

The victim had lived in Thailand quite some time which he said added to the need for a speedy resolution to the case.

So far no motive has been discovered and despite the fact that those close to the victim had been interviewed there was no arrest.

Witnesses further afield in the area are still to be fully interviewed but this is expected to be concluded in a couple of days.

Meanwhile in other news from the police bureau word has come down from the top to regional commanders nationwide to ensure the safety of millions of people returning home after the long five day break.

Krissana said that over the last five days one million vehicles had ben stopped and checked resulting in 100,000 offences. Though he said that most of these were for helmet and seatbelt infractions.

He asked the public to understand that it was for their own good that such checks were being made.

The commissioner of police has also called for police in all areas to be strict about speeding especially for public vehicles like minivans who may go to fast in order to add extra trips to their schedules.

Police were also ordered to be on the lookout for drugs as gangs may use the heavy flow of traffic as cover for their distribution activities.

Swift action, quick results etc are dangerous things to say as there may well be a quick result but will it be genuine ?

The police brass should simply pass down the chain of command the need to get it done and done properly while assuring the family and the public that everything possible is being done although I'm not sure with the BIB's reputation they'll always be believed.

However here it's all about publicity so there's grand instructions and grandiose claims, telegraphed plans announcing what will happen next and when, which premises will be searched etc all to make it sound good.

Balance this with the case involving a certain monk, and others, where action appears to have ground to a halt and now doesn't even rate a mention.

Yes one does worry that when 'Police top brass' demand swift action it may well be code for 'stitch someone, anyone up so we can look efficient' kind of thing.

But of course this kind of thing never happens.

cases like these makes one question "the land of smiles" school.

more like the wild west where scores are settled by the gun rather than the rule of law.

looks like it is a sin to get into any tiff with a local.

: locals have Guns, Falangs don't !!! sad.png

What am I missing here ? Why would the length of time someone has resided in a specific area make it more important than any other murder or like case ???

"Land of Smiles".... 'A quaint and antiquated expression. Now "Gone With the Wind"...

Whether it's a "sin" or not will be taken up by the culture glorification brigade, but it can certainly be bad for your health...

from what i have read it says he was in competition with a local who had a similar business next door and they were not on good terms. the deceased was running his business to a very high standard and was doing quite well. hope they are investigating that angle. i have a business in pattaya and i have it fully covered by CCTV. takes alot of maintenance to keep it running but it is good peace of mind.

Having a license in Thailand is pointless anyway, as anyone can get one without proving they can actually drive - except around a parking lot.

Start with the women or partners he had.

What a nightmare.

I am convinced I read stories of people dying all day.........crazy.

People die every day, everywhere.

They usually don't take all day to do it though. Crazy! Nightmare!

"demand swift action - what the fff is that supposed to mean? What they should be demanding is a professional and thorough approach - you can't measure investigation in time...it's proper results that are called for not some fudge because "time" was running out.

Dont they do tests for gunpowder residue check all the suspects jee its not rocket science. R.I.P Lars and condolences to his Family

it really doesn't matter what they test for - they will have compromised the site and therefore all the evidence anyhow.

It is probably something to do with his partner and a jealous boyfriend or may be he wasn't nice to the neighbours and someone got sick of his behaviour. Unfortunately Thai people don't think about their action when they are pissed off.
