PHUKET: -- Despite Hong Kong’s flagship carrier Cathay Pacific and its subsidiary Dragonair cancelling all of their flights in and out of Hong Kong from 4am to 4pm today as Typhoon Nida swept past, flights arriving and departing Phuket International Airport (PIA) remain largely unaffected.

An official at PIA, who declined to be named, told The Phuket News this morning (Aug 2) that three flights arriving from Hong Kong (UO 763, KA 212 and CX 5212) had been cancelled due to the weather conditions.

However, she added that departures are scheduled to leave the airport as normal.

“Travellers need to check with their travel representatives for their airlines, they have all the current statuses of the flights and they will be able to give better advise,” the official said.

A message posted on the Dargonair Facebook page yesterday afternoon (Aug 1) read:
