webfact
Police looking for young woman after man found dead in short time hotel Image: Thairath SRI RACHA: -- Police are looking for a "20 year old woman" after a 47 year old Thai man was found dead in a short time hotel room. The man is thought to have died during or shortly after having sex with the woman but she has disappeared - along with the man's 22,000 baht gold necklace and a gold locket, reported Thairath. Police were called to the room in a resort style hotel in the Nong Kham area of Sri Racha yesterday after a maid found the body of the man. He was lying sprawled on the bed dressed only in a towel. The man is thought to be a repairman for a well known company. The maid said that he rented the room in the early evening yesterday after arriving in his Toyota pick-up with a woman aged about twenty. Some two hours after the agreed finish time she suspected something was wrong and got the master key. The black pick-up was still parked outside but the girl was gone. Police studied CCTV and saw the girl leaving hurriedly. The man's relatives were called and confirmed that he had been robbed of the necklace and locket that he always wore. Police said that he probably suffered a heart attack during or after having sex. The body was sent for autopsy and now they are looking for the young woman to help them with their enquiries. colinneil
Come on the poor man is dead, how could police know his gold was worth 22000 baht? Just because the family say 22000 baht, you cannot believe it.

sheldoncollier
The price of gold is now about 22,000 baht per baht-weight of gold. Thais generally buy 1-baht, 2-baht, or 3-baht gold necklaces. It is easy for even a stranger to look at a necklace and determine that it's worth 22,000 baht.

Many Thais buy gold instead of putting it into a savings bank account with next-to-no interest.

Just because the family say 22000 baht, you cannot believe it. do you know anything about thai gold? if the family knows the baht weight of the jewelry, they know the value of the gold. And you can be sure they knew. in this case he was obviously wearing a 10 baht gold chain. Quote http://www.goldpricethai.com/facts Thai Gold is famous worldwide for its high purity of 96.5 percent (or 23 carat). Thai Gold is measured in "Baht" and is not to be confussed with the same word for Thailand's Currency.Baht is a unit of weight measurement for Gold in Thailand where 1 Baht is equal to 15.244 grams in raw bullion form or 15.16 grams when it sold as jewellery. Thai Gold is also measured in "Salung" which is a smaller unit when compared with Baht, where 1 salung is a quarter baht (0.25 baht) or 3.81 grams.A purity of 96.5 percent means in 1 Baht of Gold 96.5 percent of it is pure gold while the rest is made of metals such as silver.Hence, in 1 Baht Gold there is normally 14.71 grams of pure gold which is a little less than half a troy ounce (0.473 ozt). To calculate the weight or price of gold in different units go to Gold CalculatorEvery shop in Thailand follows the gold price set by the Thai Gold Traders Association. Thai Gold price does not fluctuate very often like the world gold market, because it only changes in multiples of 50 baht and Thai Gold shops are required to immediately change their display prices when the price is announced. You can also check the latest thai gold prices here or charts of thai gold price history.Thai Gold shops mostly have all the prices displayed in the unit of baht and of 23 carat purity. 99% pure gold is also sold in some shops in Thailand. Gold is sold in many forms such as jewellery, bars, biscuits, commemorative coins, chinese coins, etc. The price of each form of gold may differ from the standard price for gold bullion bars because of other charges such as making charge, craftsmanship, purity, etc. Many gold shops also buy gold and their buying price is often 100 baht less than the selling price.
